Don’t let failure get you down. Use a setback to help you plan a strategy to get stronger in the future. Just as a good chess player learns much more from his losses than he does from his wins, you have — in your failures — the chance to avoid repeating those failures in the future. Injuries, unachieved goals, and losses during competition all give you the opportunity to really focus on the weak spots in your training, and to correct those weak spots.
Face facts. Don’t avoid the hard truths. For example, you may love going to the gym and working out, while hating the self-discipline necessary to eat healthy, nutritious meals.

Then, a month later, reality sets in and you decide to sleep in one morning instead of getting up and working out. And this, my friend, is the beginning of the end for yet another attempt at getting physically fit
