I know the rule of thumb is 2hrs but I suspect many people gain benefits from eating a meal 1hr or so beforehand, or is it down to personal preference?
I usually eat a meal about an hour before I workout. My workouts are usually 1.5-2 hrs so by the time I'm done my workout its been three hours and I'm right on time for my next meal. If I eat 2 hrs prior, I find myself getting distracted by hunger and cutting my workouts short.
