No your not that far off, you have the right idea. But the thing is you want to keep your body working and constantly burning energy. If you have 6 small meals during the day your body is always burning and never really has a down time, when you have 3 big meals it tends to hold onto some because it knows it wont be getting any for a little while.
Dont take any carbs after around 6pm. I would have most of the carbs after your workout.
Eat things like potatoes, wheat pasta, stuff like that for carbs. Good fats are nuts, avacado etc.
You should pick up a multi-vitamin, you can get one at walmart, almost a years supply for something like $8.
If you have never worked out or dieted I will tell you right now if you try to do everything at once your going to be overwhelmed and probably stop or take a break after a couple weeks or months.
I would work in slow, maybe start with cardio in the morning every other day, or do it right after your workout. You dont want to try and cut the fat and then build muscle, that makes the whole process much longer. The more muscle you build the more calories and fat you will burn to sent nutrients to and supple the muscle.
If you have any sort of diet, or training routine post it up here.
What are your goals, and stats and we will all see what we can do for you.
