GI more important than complex vs. simple carbs?

Gi doesnt really hold much weight.

French fries have a lower Gi than plain potatoes, for example. Which do you think is more constructive for body composition/health.

Just dont eat processed, packaged crap all the time and youll be fine. Doesnt make a huge difference. And when you can, eat darker, or more brown carbs., not white....white rice vs brown rice, sweet potatos vs white potatos, etc.

First thing to understand is that GI is taken when only a carb source is ate. As BB's we tend to eat a lot of protein along with carbs so it has less impact on us. However with that being said eating straight sugar is not going to get you the same results as a sweet potato with the same amount of carbs.

Pay attention to overall kcals
Marco ratios (And what i mean by this is don't have a diet with 50% fat / 40% carbs / 10% fat) - Something most americans have.

but big macs and chicken mcnuggets have SOME protein, right?

lol j/k, we know what you mean.

Stick with complex carbs and stay away from simple sugars as well as high GI fructose. If you can control glucose levels and insulin levels you don't need to worry about high Glycimic foods.

fructose is fine. liver glycogen levels affect anabolism.

I find that elevated insulin levels, that are spiked by quickly absorbed sugar tends to make me crave more sugar after the crash. IMO, keeping my sugars limited to complex carbs and some berries helps me maintain a stable, controled diet 24/7. But that's just what works for me.

as long as youre eating low gi fruits like apples, grapefruit, berries, and peaches, youll be fine.
