desoxynojirimycin derivative, and is chemically known as 3,4,5-piperidinetriol, 1-(2-
hydroxyethyl)-2-(hydroxymethyl)-, [2R-(2α,3β,4α, 5β)]-. It is a white to pale-yellow
powder with a molecular weight of 207.2. Miglitol is soluble in water and has a pKa of
