I need some input - please!

My situation:

I am 48 YO 5-8, 205# (27.5BMI)....Cardiologist also has "Anti-Aging" practice. He strongly urge I consider TRT. My Gross Test level was 289. He originally recommended Shots of T but instead implanted 10 Pellets of BioTe Testosterone or 2000 mg (I believe that is the unit).

That was two weeks ago. Ten days in everything was fine and then bam - Huge Anxiety, borderline Panic. Horrible. I went back to him demanding him to take them out - he refused and give me a .50 mg Xanax prescription. He also told me to double my DIM from 150 to 300 MG which didn't seem to help.

I did get blood drawn. Total T went from 289 to 1491 / Free Test went from 5.8 to 27.5. My Estradiol went from 40 to 45.

I will say I have been sleeping great on this Test....but when will this crazy anxiety go away. All the doctors in my area insist Testosterone doesn't cause Anxiety - hence they imply its psychosomatic.

1. Any thoughts when Anxiety will go away?
2. Anyone else have issues with these pellets?
3. Any ideas on how to deal with this Anxiety or just keep popping Xanax ever 3 hours?
4. Has anyone gotten the Pellets removed?

This is horrible.

Wow.. I've heard of the pellets, but never actually witnessed anyone using them. 99% of the folks on this board use Cypionate injections.

Anxiety is a VERY common symptom of estrogen being too high. Your test went from being low (289) to sky high (1491). The upper range of normal is around 850.

There is no way your estradiol went form 40 with a Total Test of 289 to 45 with a Total Test of 1491. Honestly, I'd get another blood test just to be sure.

Quick physiology lesson - Testosterone amortizes into estrogen in your body fat. With a BMI of 27, you have a good amount of fat for amortization to occur.

You will most likely need an Aromatase inhibitor (AI), to lower estrogen. A popular AI is Adex.

AverageMan called it. I'm betting your estradiol is simply too high. DIM only removes the metabolized estradiol, so you're likely still generating quite a bit via aromatase.

I'm personally not a big fan of pellets as they're a huge cash cow for docs due to how they're classified as surgery. The risks are higher, and you have less control over your hormones with this method. I suspect he saw dollar signs to be frank with you.

Once the pellets have been "used up", I'd ask about switching to injections and learn how to do them yourself. It's only scary the first couple times, but does become second nature eventually.

Anxiety CAN come from your total test skyrocketing, but it's likely your adrenals/thyroid waking back up combined with that pesky estradiol. It should subside once you get your E2 under control (45pg/ml may be correct, but it may also be above your happy place too).

Give the TRT sticky a good read. The more you know, the better your level of care will be as you will understand exactly what is going on. ;)

My .02c :)

The pellets are very well liked by many. They are less hassle for sure. It just takes a little tuning as with injections. If you have Zanx to pop it sound like you are prone to it. I agree your estrogen may be the cause. Your dr was right to get you on trt my father levels were almost 800 at 67 years old. Once you get everything dialed I. Your going to feel like a million bucks.
