How do so many of you get TRT?

I find it impossible for me!

I have low test,both total(300 ng/dl)) and free(3 pg/ml) all my life!

I have been to two endos-the second one being a progressive endo-prescribes hormones readily.

Neither of them would give me TRT.

The first one said she didn`t know much about testosterone, and referred me to the other.

This other one is a famous endo, who gives interviews all the time.
'
Claims test is the most important thing for men, advocates administering testosterone in the moment of angina attack, rather than nitroglycerin, and all such rant.

She also gave me this speech when I came to her,and then sent me to do and array of tests.

When I came back, her story changed.

THERE IS NO WAY YOU`RE GETTING TRT,she said,BECAUSE YOUR SPERM COUNT IS ALL RIGHT,AND testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) WILL SHUT IT DOWN.

She prescribed me,Metformin. She said it will reduce my abdominal fat,and this will increase my free testosterone.
And sent me on my way.

Free testosterone is bullshit btw.

There are herbs that I used, which skyrocketed my free test.

Free test won`t do shit for your strength, fat, mass, laziness.
It`s only good for the libido, and not so much.
I have tested this over months and months time.

There is BTW a whole array of these idiot endos that rely only on free test,if your total is in the 300s,like mine(lower limit)
This is all bull.

TOTAL test is what it matters, otherwise there would be no need for AAS or TRT,we would all just be using tongkat ali or stinging nettle.

I feel like shit my whole life.

I need more alpha, more stamina,I`m lazy and tired, every idiot in the gym has more mass than me,in spite of me having worked my ass off.
I have a fat belly which has not been removed by Glucophage.

I do have great strength in the gym-like my 360 lb incline press-which I have gained by training my ass off for 10 years and having a smart strength building routine.

But I need to look and feel better,be less moody like a woman, and not be tired!~

What should I do?

Should I go see a 3rd endo?

Should I self prescribe 100 mg per week for 3 months on/3 months off?

How do you guys get testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in spite of mostly having good sperm count?

BTW All of heavy AAS users that I met through the gyms for years have children!

This aspect of AAS use is greatly exaggerated IMO!

BTW I`m not in the USA!

LH @ 4,35
men 0,8-7,6 mlU/ml

Prolactin @ 189
53,0-360,0 mlU/L

Estradiol @ 44,5
men 0,0-56 pg/ml

Free testosteron @ 24,7
men 5,5-42 pg/ml

Free T4 @ 18,06
12,00-22,0 pmol/l

TSH @ 4,73
0,40-4,00 µIU/ml

BTW the free test was fine because I was taking tongkat ali LJ100 a few weeks before that(stays active for some time after stopping).
Otherwise it has always been around 3 pg/ml,below the lower limit.

You might want to get your thyroid looked at. That can cause symptoms similar to Low T.

How old are you?

BTW she did a testicle exam and scan-and they are perfectly fine.

Also did a thyroid scan-slight chronic inflammation-which is why she suggested I do Hashimoto blood test.

I`m 29.

Had low test all my life probably.First measured when I was 23.

Do you think fixing thyroid might fix total testosterone?

I have insulin resistance BTW.

And the doc also told me to do bloods for Hashimoto`s disease eventually.

She hasn`t told me that I have Metabolic syndome too,but I suspect that i do have it,since I have a tendency for:

Symptoms and features are:
Fasting hyperglycemia ***8212; diabetes mellitus type 2 or impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance, or insulin resistance
High blood pressure
Central obesity (also known as visceral, male-pattern or apple-shaped adiposity), overweight with fat deposits mainly around the waist
Decreased HDL cholesterol
Elevated triglycerides
Low Testosterone

The other factors(triglycerides,LDL,Blood Pressure),I can control totally with good diet.

But the low testosterone and extremely low HDL are always present,no matter how I eat or how much fat I lose.

Christ, metformin when you have TT levels at 300ng/dL???! That's a new one to me, must be a doctor that specializes in diabetes patients masquerading as one that sees HPTA issues. FYI metformin is a diabetic drug to treat insulin resistance, and it can make you FATTER! I don't know if treating hypothyroidism will reverse any issues with your production of testosterone, but it should help with low energy and fatigue/weight loss.

As you're not in the USA, I don't know if Increase my T can help you or not (board sponsor), but if they can't - keep hunting for a better doc. The big problem today is that many doctors are more than willing to prescribe meds that treat the symptoms of low testosterone, but not the root cause itself as not only is prescribing testosterone still somewhat taboo (thanks media!) but the doctors are constantly bombarded with drug reps pushing the latest and greatest SSRI's/Statins/BP meds/boner pills/et cetera. If your glucose came back as high, I can see why the idiot would prescribe metformin, but many don't know that low test can cause insulin resistance itself...

Best of luck!

My .02c :)

She told me Metformin would remove all my abdominal fat,and that I have had it because of the insulin resistance.

I haven`t had high blood sugar readings(yet),but very high insulin on the glucose tolerance test. This, will one day cause diabetes,as the pancreas will deplete itself, she said.

As for my metformin run,I have been on it for almost 3 months.

I have lots weight all around, almost 25 lbs,but I haven`t lost it only in the waist but overall.

My waist is still fat in ratio to the rest of my body.

What pisses me off about is that I lost much mass in the shoulders, arms, neck, too. But to be honest,it was probably fat as well. But I seem smaller because of it.
I haven`t lost any strength.

I know there are studies showing metformin may lower testosterone, but according to my latest blood test, the testosterone is the same.

Best of luck!

My .02c :)

Thanks man!

I was on opiates for two years due to several knee surgeries which consequently killed my testicles without my knowledge. I too was put on metformin and a ton of other meds without ever having my testosterone levels checked. I asked how this could happen, and the answer I received was, "You're just getting older and probably don't eat properly with enough exercise." I watched my legs shrink down to a third of their original size and continued to watch my belly get bigger as the rest of my muscles continued to atrophy to nothing. I WISH I had the tools available today on the internet as there was never a hint that it could be hypogonadism causing these terrible changes to my body! Your doctor is correct in that insulin resistance can lead to diabetes (it did to me), what she may not have said is that it is COMPLETELY reversible! Testosterone can, and has helped me to reduce my drug dosages as it is a necessary component of our metabolic function. Do not give up on pursuing proper treatment, I went for nearly a DECADE before I found out that I was running around with the hormone levels of a 14 year old girl (literally) - killing my motivation to work out/do well in the job world/live. I am a better man now that I have pushed to fix my lack of testosterone and will NEVER look behind me.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to take charge of your body and keep pushing until you find a doctor that is willing to not only listen to YOU, but asks how you FEEL. Lab results only give part of the picture and sadly too many rely on them as a guide for treatment. While my case was a little easier as I was at 120ng/dL, you are still at the very bottom of the totem pole with the 80 year old men that are sick and dying. Don't take no for an answer, despite what they think, doctors do not know everything and sometimes need to be educated themselves.

This is true,true.

They keep pushing every other stuff imaginable rather than the cheap testosterone.

My HDL is so low I may stroke out in the next few years but she wouldn`t give me TRT.

And I know that low testosterone can be causing the insulin resistance for me as well.

AND SHE SAID ALL OF THESE THINGS WHEN I FIRST SAW HER.

I honestly believed I was going to get some TRT.

But after my tests came back(which were quite expensive, and all done at the lab where she said I must go-the lab which she is closely associated with),she bailed because my sperm count was ok.I don`t what she expected it would be-I didn`t expect it to be low.
But she ran away from taking any risk at all.She practically pushed me out of the office that second time, for the next patient to come in.

As I calculated, she must be seeing like 20 patients a day there. And she charges an even rate for every visit-80$.

Time for a new doc brother. If there's concern over having children, you can always put some swimmers in the freezer for later use. Besides, that's YOUR call, not hers.

Thank you man!

I will continue to seek help!

And good point that I should try to find some endo that will actually listen to how I feel and what I suggest.

And I I will do that also because I know,I know, that testosterone, when actually needed,as a replacement,is not such a risk they present it to be! I know it is ok.

Honestly,I believe that uncontrolled AAS abuse is something entirely different than getting it at the right dose for important reason, and that the former is very well to be blamed for the bad rap testosterone is getting in the mind of the average person, even the practicing physician.

BTW I was also on opiates for 7,8 months when I was 20,but I doubt this has caused my low testosterone,as I had felt the effects of low testosterone clearly, since I was born.

Thanks again!

Go to another endo man. Try and find one that lifts weights. I got kind of lucky being a nurse and training with an endo. We just tested my levels for shits and giggles came back in the low 3's and he said close enough. Boom 200mg a week for life.

If you don't mind pinning for the rest of your life than go hard, I'd rather scathe on the bare minimum than have to be forced to pin every week forever.

The key is you don't go to an endo. It's a never ending battle to make those jerk offs understand how badly you're affected by low test, unless your levels are below range. They all seem to think that the established ranges are law and they are under penalty of death if they don't follow them.

Besides, most of them are fucking idiots as proven in your endos statement of "your sperm count is all right" so you don't need test. If sperm count were an accurate indicator of test levels, most of us could knock up a chic by breathing on her.

You say you're not in the US, but you don't mention where you are, so it's hard to say what options you might have. I would imagine most countries have rejuvenation clinics in some form or another. That's where most of us get TRT.

Another option is to run a cycle, let your test tank afterwards and then see a third endo while your levels are below range. Of course you could also self-prescribe by ordering on your own.
