How much protein in one sitting

How much protein can your body absorb in one sitting b4 it just starts going to waste. For example: sometimes when I busy as hell I would like to eat a shitload of chicken and finish it off with an 8 ounce Muscle milk with 50grams. Would I be just pissing most of the protein away at that point?

No. I've never been convinced that there is any "set limit" beyond which your body can't utilize protein for some period of time. If there is a limit, I challenge anyone to prove what it is. In fact, if I recall correctly, I think I saw some kind of proof that you can consume a crapload at once and not waste any. It would seem to make sense that there might be some limit, but my guess is that you're more limited by the size of your stomach than anything else.

I have yet to figure out why people stop trying to look at things from a Supplement company marketing view and look at it from a physiology and antomical point of view.....

Let me ask you a couple of questions-

1.) What happens when you eat fats? Can we not absorb all of them? Sure we can if they are not used for energy they are stored as you guessed it Fat

2.) What happens when you eat carbs? Do we not absorb all of them?? We sure do they go to fill out glycogen stores throughout the body until there is no more needed. What happens to the rest?? Right look at the post above.

3.) So what happens when you eat protein???

We absorb everything we put in our body within reason. Yes it some cases it might be 80% of chicken or fish or whatever might be biologically available. But its not like after 8 oz. of chicken you can't "absorb" anymore and you just shit the rest out.

What the hell are you eating 100g of protein in a sitting for - use some fing common sense....

Second yes all that could be biologically absorbed would be------but you are obviously missing the point of your own question. Once you figure it out you will understand the problem

Spread your protein out into 5 or 6 meals throughout your day. This should save you any trouble. I'm sure you don't east 600grams of protein each day.

You need to look at your daily protein needs. For example, lets say that you weigh 200 pounds and you decide that you are going to eat 300 grams of protein every day. You should just divide the protein up over six meals. That would mean that you should eat 50 grams of protein at every meal. You should just divide your daily protein total by the number of meals that you eat every day and then use that as a guideline. The heavier you get, the more protein that your body will be able to use.

dirk is taking my approach to answering questions :laugh3:

I Have Had 90 Grams Of Protein At A Crack..i Felt Like Crap After Consuming It, But I Did Not Crap It Out Or Anything...so..i Am Sure I Absorbed It..

But, I Tend To Stick To 45-50 Per Serving With My 5 Or 6 Meals..unless I Dont Get 5 Or 6 Meals..then I Do Cram It In...

Protein is broken down into amino acids for cell repair and to produce ATP for energy.
Unlike carbs and fats, it has no storage form, and the excess (unfortunately), is converted back to glucose and fats. We don't pass it out into the urine, nor the feces.

In short, protein utlization is different for say, a sedentary person, to Jay Cutler. If our sedentary friend here consumes 2g of protein per lb. of body weight each day, he'd be wasting more than half of it, since his range would be more in the 0.6-0.8 g area (since he's not in an overly-anabolic state as Jay is). I couldn't even begin to fathom what the Olympian's protein needs are. I'm sure they're through the roof.

Adjust your protein intake according to your weight, and level of activity. Protein is an expensive source of calories, so plan your meals wisely.

I'll go with this explanation over everyone else
