How much Protein should I take in after a workout ?

I weigh 14 stone, And I'm curious how much protein i need after a workout, I don't always depend on shakes I usually have about 40g of protein from a shake but if eating real foods should i just stick to the 40g since protein is just protein, or can my body actually consume more than 40g at one time.

I buy the liquified whey protein tubes and use them for post workout only... its about 2 sips of liquid and 49g of protein which works well. Other than that protein shakes during the day etc. 40g seems pretty good - the important thing is just to get some in you whether its food, protein bar or protein shake you need to get it in you in short order after workout. (I try to make sure and hit it towards the end of the workout so in case I get busy right after or whatever there's nothing to forget)
 
lol, I have to agree there, there's bin far to many times something pops up straight after a workout and It's only 3 hours later I realise I missed my post workout shake lol.

One more question! When I'm out of protein shakes what would be the best food(s) to eat for post workout? eggs/lean mince?
