Is the Carb Depleting Diet right for me??

Hi everyone! I've just joined a gym again and am trying to get back on the path to being fit. I've been out of gym and eating slightly unhealthy for almost 3 years. I want to focus on losing body fat and toning but I'm not sure if this diet would be good for my goals because I've been told by a DR that I need to consume less than 1200 cal a day.
My carb depleting diet has me eating 5 small meals a day:
1st day consists of 1771 Calories 127 g Protein 282 g Carbs 15 g Fat
2nd day consists of 1395 Calories 141 g Protein 174 g Carbs 15g Fat
3rd day consists of 1076 Calories 164.5 g Protein 91 g Carbs 6 g Fat
I am doing a min of an hour of cardio each day with only 30 min to no cardio on Sundays
Monday and Tuesdays I train for endurance
Wednesday off
Thursday Strength
Friday Power

Going lower on carbs and higher in protein will definitely help you lose some bodyfat in the long run. But, first of all, in order to know whether or not you should be going under 1200 calories, I need to know your stats first (i.e. height, weight, body fat %). Also, be carfeul with an hour or more of cardio. Focus equally on the weights. Muscle is what will help you become a fat-burning machine :) Too much cardio will just cause your body to enter a catabolic (muscle-wasting) state, which you don't want if you want to lose body fat.

I agree with pretty much everything MF says. Give us your stats. I'm losing drastic weight on 1900 calories per day now and I weigh 124 pounds. You need to fuel the furnace remember, or it won't run. 1200 seems too low. I would say do weights 4 days per week and cardio 3. Stretch about 6 also....it's a very underated thing!

Give us more info and we can be more specific for ya!

K sweetheart, it looks like you're doing fine with the amount of calories you're doing. I looked up your caloric needs based on your stats and it looks like just to maintain your weight (assuming your also active), you would need to consume around 2200 calories per day just to maintain your weight. But, keep in mind, to lose it, subract about 400-500 calories and PRESTO! You have 1700 :) See how your body responds to it and always live by trial and error and you will reach your goals! Good luck!

Thanks ladies!! Here's my stats:

5'5 147lbs 30%bf

Okay.....

I'm going to say you can eat between 1700-1900 cals per day to lose weight. 1200 is too low.

Obviously eat clean and healthy.....lots of info around here on good foods to choose. I would say eat half your macros protein and the other half carbs/fats. Or around there.....40/60 is okay too but no less than 40 for protein.

Get on a lifting program....hire a personal trainer with a good reputation for a couple sessions to get you on a full body weight program and make sure he shows you proper form for each exercise. I suggest lifting heavy for low reps as a good place to start. Don't worry about building lots of muscle....you need cals to build alot of muscle.

For cardio I suggest 3-5 days per week....anywhere between 30 -60 min seessions. I don't know your fitness level so see how your body responds. Feel free to add a couple HIIT sessions in there for 20 minutes instead of steady state for 30-60 minutes. Once again this is all goal dependant.

And I suggest stretching between sets of lifting......stretching is severely underated!!

This is just a base to get you going of course.

Tell us exactly what you plan to do and the most important thing.....GIVE IT TIME. You may expect to see results in 2-3 weeks but alot of people don't see results for at least 6 weeks!
