Lat Pulldown pause at bottom

Do you think it is important to pause at the bottom of a lat pulldown? I always feel that in order to tell that you are really using your lats that you should pause. I see some people use a really heavy weight and use their lowerback to get the weights moving fast so that they can use the momentum to get the bar all the way down to their chest. With pullups it seems not as important to pause at the top because you can't cheat in this way; your lats have to pull your body up and there is no way of helping with your lowerback.

Yeah, I pause at the bottom for a sec and squeeze to get that nice burn. And also, try not to jerk your entire body when pulling it down. Keep your back as firm as possible.

I believe that pausing is a good way to really squeeze your shoulder blades together and prevent cheating through momentum.

holding it at the bottom also develops static strength in your lats. this is important for bench pressing. especially in the descending portion.
