Lifting while loosing weight

Hey guys, I was just wondering if someone here could help me out. I am currently in the process of trying to drop about 50 pounds. In a month I'm down about 10 from just basically watching my diet (1500-2000 calories a day) along with 60 minutes of cardio 6 days a week. I'm happy with my results so far but I really wanted to maybe add some weights into my routine. I was thinking of on two of my days doing about a half hour cardio and then doing an upper and lower body split leaving the other 4 days for just cardio. Can someone tell me if this is a good idea and if not tell me what I could do to add some weights in. It's not that I'm lazy and don't want to do the cardio...I was just thinking in terms of trying to tone up. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

It's not that I'm not sure about whether to add in the weight training its how that I'm more concerned about is a 2 day upper body lower body split ok?

50 pounds is a dramatic weight loss..at 10 pounds a month...just be careful...losing and gaining weight rapidly does stress the heart...

you can of course att weight training in any type of split sine you are trying to lose..especially to tone..but remember, sooner or later you will begin to build muscle, whish at some time will start to level off the amount of weight you lose and ad muscle..

so, do some searching here, an d find a split you like..also, in my opinion, you burn more calories with a good training session then with cardio...

and that is not alot of calories to be eating...so remember, you still need to get the calories even while trying to lose...just eat good calories..it is not necessarily calories that make you gain weight in perspective to fat...it is what makes up those calories...

ive never been a fan of doing a upper body day lower body day i would do one or two body parts per day and remeber when weight training you will be building muscle which is raising your metabolism but you may not see the the loss on the scale the way you had hoped but keep in mind muscle is heavier than fat and you are replacing that fat with quality muscle which is what you want

correct..but, to be precise for those who may not understand....1 pound of muscle, weighs the same as 1 pound of fat...the differece, is that one pound of fat takes up more area(space) then one pound of muscle...
