Liver Enzymes: Lifting, NAC, Time of day

View attachment 556987Last week I tested high on my AST and ALT levels, ordering by my GP. I had a hard leg workout two days prior and was still very sore. I have recently been made aware of the fact that lifting within 7 days of a blood test can cause you to test high.
I am seeing a new doctor next week for TRT and do not want to spend time discussing my liver enzymes, which are more than likely not accurate. I want to abstain from lifting for one week and then test again (I already have rested 3 days). I have also been taking 1200mg of NAC for 2 days. My GP will not send me for another blood test because he says they won't change so quickly. Therefore, I will have to pay out of pocket and drive an hour out of state to get the test done.

My questions are:

Given the hassle I have to go through to get this next blood test, Do you think 8 days without lifting and one week on NAC will be enough to bring my levels back to the normal range?

Does time of day have any effect on liver enzymes?

Does eating, day of blood test, have any impact?

ALT is pretty liver specific. If it is elevated more than a few points above normal for consecutive times...you should look into it more seriously.

AST and ALP are not as specific.

I have been taking a lot of supps, and working out for a while and never have had a liver enzyme elevated. I have had CK elevated due to exercise, as well as CRP.

I battled those liver hormones going up and down for years and they were double yours.
20 mg Paxil daily, 150 mg Wellbutrin daily....
dropped the Wellbutrin and lowered Paxil and after a while they came down.
Saw a liver specialist and he told me to take 400 iu. Vit. E min. daily it has a positive effect on the liver. Eat clean and no alcohol or fatty foods.

I do take in a good amount of fat a day but it all comes from olive oil and almonds. Problem?

maybe a run of glutathione would help, it is a very strong antioxidant. its possibly your liver needs a nice cleanse. or supplement methyl groups (choline, betaine, vitamin B12, and folic acid)

I was doing b 12 shots and my last BW said it was high so I stopped.
My Dr. has been giving me MIC inj and just recently gave me glutathione too. But I question if eating healthy fats is an issue.....

ok just be careful with the glutathione, it is only to be taken for short periods, its not something you do all the time.

please keep in mind I am not a doctor, but I will say slightly elevated values are not too big of a concern, when your looking at sat alt values, if there is a real problem, usually the numbers will be 3-4 times the range.

Hope this helps.

What exactly does high liver hormones cause? Besides liver failure
What are symptoms? Low energy, water retention, anything like that?
