I know this isn't about AS so to speak, but if you have used gear or been on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), then you are aware of the side effects, one being ACNE. Moderators feel free to move to appropriate section if this isn't it.

In December 2003 I went to a dermatologist for acne problems I could not get under control, I was prescribed a drug called Minocycline. I took this drug daily for five months and it really cleared up my acne but soon after I started noticing bloody stools and abdominal pain. These problems kept getting worse and worse, and over a period of 2 years after being told by doctors that I just had hemorrhoids, or fissures, or I needed to drink more water etc.. The problem became so bad and so painful that I almost passed out one day at work from the pain I was finally referred to a specialist and scheduled to do a colonoscopy.

Results from colonoscopy showed major inflammation and I was diagnosed with something I knew nothing about and never heard of before; Ulcerative Colitis.

So I began reading and researching this disease, and after countless hours of research, thousands of dollars on medicines, (seriously $600-$800 a month supply for meds), PAIN every second of every day and night, Blood in the toilet every bowel movement, Loss of jobs due to being utterly worn out from the pain, addiction to Narcotic pain pills, and a total weight loss of 70lbs I found what worked for me to keep myself in remission from the disease, gain back all weight lost *plus some, and live a somewhat normal life. - I'll offer advice on that matter for free to anyone on here that needs help / but that is getting away from the point i'm trying to make.

Doctors are prescribing medicines on a daily basis that might help fix your little problem, but also debilitate you for the rest of your life. There has been shown a link between Inflammatory Bowel diseases (IBD) and oral antibiotics for acne/Accutane. And there have been class action lawsuits against these drug makers because of the severity of the problem.

*** moral of my rant ***

I just want all of you guys and girls to think about the possible long term effects of some of these drugs we put into our bodies because it can happen to anybody and complicate your life forever. When you're diagnosed with Chron's or Ulcerative Colitis, its too late to take it back - you fight to feel even halfway normal every day for the rest of your life. I feel like we should all just stay away from antibiotics in general and allow our bodies to fight for themselves - the way we were designed in the first place.

also Antibiotic Resistance, where cells mutat to become resistant to the antibiotic, which means more drastic measures must be used to treat bacterial infections. thanks for the read.
