Long time reader...1st time learning about thyroid

Hey bros...

I have been on here a while and have read many of your posts and advice about anything having to do with test or similar products. I just got diagnosed with hashimotos (hypo-thyroid) and i have a few questions that of course i cannot really ask my doc withough being obvious...Have leaned on you in the past and am here again with this...

I have low test (batteling fatigue for 4 years...whent on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) last year with success, however fatigue was still there at times. I got off so i could focus on having a baby and try to go at it on my own for a while. My Test #s have dropped (of course) and i am now at 270 (which we all know is low for a 37 year old).....

My last blood test showed that i have hashimotos....

T3 was 120 (range is 80-200)
T4 was 7.4 (range is 4.5-12.5)
microsomal tpo was 162 (high) range is less than 35--this was the indicator per my doc

My questions are:

1) i have a feeling that i might not have a thyroid problem, only because when i did the blood test i came off of a really bad week of eating & drinking (not usual) and just did a clenase so i wonder if the #'s are jacked.....That plus, i only have one of the sympons with hypothyroidism (fatigue) and none of the others (dry skin, sensitive to cold, problem with weight gain)...Leads me to belive its a fluke in the test, but since the doc wants to put me on something, is there a BENEFIT to all this?? meaning by getting on will i get a little more shredded?? or will i just screw some stuff up?

2) If i really do have a thyroid issue, and this new pill helps my fatigue will i get some good fat loss out of it if im already in shape and dont have a weight issue?

3) Should i get back on the test while trying this thing out, or try one at a time to see how the effects are?

I would love the side effet of getting super lean if i dont really need it that much but it puts me at optimal levels (kind of like the testosterone putting all of us at more optimal levels), but dont want to fool around if it can have some negative consequences??

Any advice would be good...My doc says i should do synthroid or nature thyroid...

Your T3 & T4 levels are not bad. They're at the lower end of the normal range. You could get them up to the high side of normal and it may help considerably or not at all.

My levels were lower than yours when I started on Synthroid. I started at 25mcg/day, then gradually went up to my current dose of 100mcg/day. I felt zero difference until I hit 100mcg/day. But what I felt was not an increase in energy. I felt nervous and couldn't sleep for shit. So I dropped back to 75mcg.

I think I read somewhere that testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can lower your thyroid. And the more test you take, the more your thyroid is lowered. This makes sense in my case because I reduced my test dosage around the same time I increased my Synthroid. With less test I actually need less Synthroid, and I'm assuming this is why 100mcg/day became too much.

I also don't have any symptoms of low thyroid except for the fatigue. And Synthroid did nothing for fat loss. Low T, and high estrogen even more so, have a much greater affect on fat gain than my thyroid. Fat loss started for me when I began taking test shots.

I would start with TRT. Once you get that dialed in, then go on to your thyroid issue, if you do in fact have one.

I have Hashinotos. It is improtant to keep in mind that it is an autoimmune disease that effects your thyroid and not a thyroid disease.

1. What is your thyroid antibody number? That will determine if you have Hashimoto's ornot.
2. yes.
3. Probably best to tackle both at once under a doctor's care.

The thryoglobuin antiobodies showes i had less than 20 and the range is less than 41 (if i am reading it correctly)..per my doc it was the microsomal tpo-ab that showed a high of 162 which is why he stated i have hashimotos?? I am unclear of whats what in that area though.

Honestly bro, I wouldn't jump on anything just yet. I would test again along with some other items. I am not too well versed with Hashi's but I am well versed with being hypothyroid which I am. What was your thyroid TSH number out of curiosity??

2) If i really do have a thyroid issue, and this new pill helps my fatigue will i get some good fat loss out of it if im already in shape and dont have a weight issue?

I will tell you that T4 only is the worst shit you can take for being hypothyroid. Meaning, Synthroid is terrible. And I say that with complete confidence. I honestly don't believe the body is meant to live on just T4 alone. So if I had to pick a med, I would stick with Armor Thyroid for my first choice. You could probably get away with Nature Thyroid which contains both thyroid hormones such as T4 and T3. I have come to the conclusion that T4 will be rendered ineffective over time with thyroid patients.

3) Should i get back on the test while trying this thing out, or try one at a time to see how the effects are?

I wouldn't get on anything right now until you get more tests done. And honestly, if I had to pick, I would hop on testosterone first and get dialed in before hoping on thyroid meds. Testosterone can decrease thyroid output so I feel it is easier to address once you stabilize your test and estrogen levels. Just my 2 cents.
