Low T Blues

Hey guys. This is my first post on here. I'm 30 years old and I've been on test cyp shots 400mg once a month with my gp for over a year now. No Aromatase inhibitor (AI) and no HCG. It was great at 1st, but then my libido radiply got worse than before the shots. I feel great for the 1st week or so, but after that I start to drop fast. My libido goes to absolute 0, my gains in the gym slow down to a crawl, and my mental clarity is affected so badly that I don't even feel like the same person. I went to my doctor and he put me on the shots every 3 weeks and said thats the best he can do. His exact words were "I just want to get you in the minimum range, about 300 or so to make sure that we don't overdo it." Well, I knew that the "normal range" goes a whole lot higher than that. I started to wonder, well they have a "range" for a reason. Thats when I called bs and started doing my own research. That led me here. I just got my bloodwork taken earlier this week through Chip's site. I can't wait to be part of team Maximus! The results should be in by Monday. I hope its ok that I shared my story in a new post, I don't really have a question, I'm just really really excited and anxious to get my life back. It's been a bumpy up and down rollercoaster ride of a year. Mostly down. Just wanted to get that off of my chest. Thanks for lending your ears.

Welcome and good luck! Your in good hands with chip. That doctor sounds like he didn't have a clue. Chip will get you feeling better again! :elephant:

Thanks MeatHead! Yeah, Chip's been super nice to me and very patient. Top notch guy.

You sound like a pretty mellow guy, but your doc is, without the slightest doubt, malpracticing to the point where your State Medical Board should be informed. Essentially, he is putting you on a test cycle without any of the protections.

You may have come out OK, but I feel sorry for others who may not be so lucky.

From one Low T sufferer to another: Welcome! It's good to see you're getting definitive care!

Saying, Your old Doc was clearly not knowledgeable about your condition would be an understatement! Please keep us posted on your progress.

Agree that your doctor was clueless regarding Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). What cracks me up about docs and their "normal ranges" is that they say as long as you're on the low side of the "normal range" they say you're fine but if you're at the high side of their "normal range" they freak out. If their "normal range" is so important to them if I'm at the high side of "normal" it shouldn't matter based on their logic, it's still "normal."

A specialist is a lot more likely to treat actual symptoms than numbers. In my experience, starting from a low T number of 240, my body did not respond to treatment until I got into the upper third of the range. I have also read this to be typical of many men on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

Additionally, every known range is based on samples of our current male population. That isn't a good sample, in my opinion.

Welcome to the team. Be patient with the process, but in the long run, you won't believe how well it works.....

It's important to remember the range is based upon samples of our current male population WHO HAVE BEEN TESTED. Think about it, who gets tested? Doctor's only order tests for those that they think are low to begin with. That skews the range to the low side as well.

OP.. You'll be feeling like a new man
shortly.. Thanks for sharing your story.. I think most of us can relate to you about the stuggles of working w/ an ignorant doctor.. In my case it was 4 different docs.. Welcome! Don't be a stranger keep us posted on your success w/ Maximus!

Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to feeling better and all the things that go along with having the right treatment. I just wish that I had found out about it sooner. I'll tell you what, I got a copy of my last bloodwork with my clueless doc, 19 days since my shot. It was 345 total testosterone. Thats it. No free test level, no anything. "Total Testosterone" was the only thing on the sheet. Talk about ignore a problem and it will go away huh? Speaking of which, one month the nurse got my dosage wrong and gave me 200mg for the whole month! I went to my doc and told him I thought she dosed me wrong. My doc didn't believe me, and then found my extra vial in his cabinet later that day. To his credit he did fire her. That was a ROUGH month. I'm a little nervous about my bloodwork with Chip though. It was right after my shot. Will the bloodwork show if I'm shutdown and hypogonadal even if the testosterone level is high? I'm guessing it will with all the stuff they check. Chip said not to worry, so I'm mostly not. But there is still that little annoying "what if" in my mind that won't go away.

Thanks for welcoming in our newest teammate, guys. All stories are always welcomed. I'll have you back up to speed in no time! Welcome to team maximus!!!
