I prefer real food, but if I've learned one thing from Dre on these forums (actually more than that) the source of your calories isn't nearly as important as how many you are getting.
Ditto that!! Cant beat real food, but if you having a hard time getting enough calories in to gain, then by all means throw some shakes back. And ya, ive tried many different things with my diet, and the one thing i cant say, at least for myself, is the most important thing above all else is make sure you are getting enough calories, high calories+high protein=you grow. I know there are much more technical ways of looking at it but i like to keep things simple. Now keep in mind everyones body reacts different to different food, so be cautious of unwanted fat gain, and if to start to notice it you can drop carbs and up protein and so on. Just puck healthy good that are going to be a help yo your body and overall well being and throw a few cheat meals in there to satisfy craving and give you a few more calories. I actually like to throw a cheat meal in post workout after ive trained a muscle group thats lagging.
