The 12th of June I had a gyno operation and since I see so little information about the practical side of such an operation, I’ll write some personal experiences about this.
Online and in the newspapers I read that all plastic surgeons throughout Europe and America have a huge increase in this gyno surgery, mostly due to steroids and bodybuilding. The hospital I had it done, claims to do this daily ?!? However, on the forums I don’t see to much discussion on this topic? I guess it’s a bit embarrassing to talk about this since it’s about titties on a grown man, while we try to look our most masculine But the hell with it …
I had it done in Belgium and I’m just back in China and jetlagged as hell, so forgive me if some of my sentences are a bit weird (English aint my first language). I went to Belgium – France – Hongkong – China in less then 24 hours with a 13 hour flight included. To tired to work, so I put this review online instead :
1. First visit
Had to undress and explain the problem. What was very annoying is that once I take of my shirt, my nipples tightened up and the gyno really doesn’t show. She said it wasn’t necessary, but that it’s my choice. 10 mins later she agreed and scheduled the operation. Important note : this is from puberty and not AS related. Weird amount of fat on the chest , no hard places under the nipple (like I read on the board). I didn’t mentioned AS use. No point I guess.
She was however very very persistent not to remove the full glands and said it is necessary they stay there (something about “feeding” the nipple”). It would be a liposuction kind of thing and a partial removal of the gland. WHY do some doctors don’t like to remove this?
2. The actual operation :
Arrive hospital 12:45 : Pay 999 euro up front in cash (or wire 14 days before operation on their account) and go to my room. Had to strip down to underwear, wear a hairnet and some kind of hospital green shirt. The unpleasant thing was that I had to use a depository ( = put a rather big pill up the ass).
13:45 they sent me to the operation table : put you on the hart monitor + infuse. They have total narcoses : you can breathe and swallow without the need of a machine but are nevertheless completely knocked out. It feels like a big sleep. They did not tell me this before and I was assuming it was just a local anesthetic and that I could watch the whole thing, so I was rather chocked it was so serious. That freaked me out a bit.
They put you to sleep trough the infuse, and it went pretty fast to. Took less then 30 secs from a fresh state to asleep. . Getting awake is rather freaky, it feels like coming back to life and what you say apparently doesn’t make much sense. “dizzy” is the key word.
Operation lasted 30 minutes.
You wake up on the operation table and are very groggy for the first hour. After one hour, you know what has happened to you and what is happening around you. The world is a bit out of focus but it’s manageable.
They changed bandages around 5:30pm and they were soaked in blood. I was really leaking blood while they changed them.
They give you new bandages to soak up the blood. Some ducktape to keep it on your chest. A piece of 1 cm thick cotton bandage that is to soak up the bload and on top of that goes a stretchband. Together it feels quite hot. The strechband you have to keep on for about 2 weeks to keep the swelling down. They say one week is enough, but I’ll probably do it 2 weeks.
At 6 pm (and about 3.5 hours after waking up) I felt perfectly normal. Good reflex and normal line of thought. I was really suitable (even the nurse agreed) to drive a car. I never drink and drive and take this shit very seriously, and won’t take any risk in this departement.
After that I drove alone for about 3 hours to France for my job, but did it quite comfortably without any noticeable pain.
Upon arrival I changed the bandages again and the whole thing was covered in blood again. I must have lost quite a bit of blood. They call it leaking; I call it bleeding like a pig. I took some paracetemol since I was starting to get a headache. The wounds are 2 times 1 cm wide and contain no wires. Small enough to heal on their own., Its located a bit under the chest (see picture). They didn’t go through the nipple.
At night you have to sleep on your back, otherwise it gets to painfull. Second night I could sleep on my side. The blood loss suddenly stopped because I didn’t notice much blood after the first night. No pain the morning after. Look quite bruised though. Feels like one as well.
IMO you can cover the operation very easily from you environment. You see the bandage if you were a t-shirt, but not with a proper shirt.
Biggest drawback :
1. The bandage is hot in the summer and itches like hell. However, you can take it off 1 hour a day. + you can wash is should it smell
2. Complete narcoses which is a bit scary.
Biggest advantage :
1. At 999 euro not that expensive. (= 1339 usd @ www.xe.com)
2. Very fast recovery (you’re home the same day)
3. Resume training in 2 weeks according to the doc, seems very fast to me.
13th June : Result in the evening : looks like the operation did not succeed : My left chest is really big and right one is quite small. But apparently that’s swelling and it has improved a lot since then. The right one looks perfect though.
I’m not sure if that is traditional gyno, I have no disks behind my nipple. Just disproportionate amount of fat there and fatty nipple, so they mainly did lypo. This wasn’t result of AS, but is really a genetic and have this from my childhood. Cycles worsted this a bit (but frankly not that much).
The letter they gave me after the operation contained this :
Mobility :
--------------------
24 hours after operation : avoid movement above the shoulder, but we recommend that you stay mobile (walk, and bicycle as example).
Pain :
--------------------
The level off pain is based on the individual and is a very personal experience. Sometimes pain around the chest area and back is possible. This should go away after a few days of the operation. Should you feel the need, we advise paracetemol as a painkiller.
(Personal comment : little pain, very itchy.)
Hygene :
--------------------
24 hours after the operation, you can have a shower. It is not advised to swim, take sauna or sun tan for the first 3 weeks after the operation. Blue marks may occur.
(Personal comment : This sounds not important but trust me, after a whole day bleeding, and sweating because of the bandages, you will feel like a reborn person after a shower. I did not bleed in the shower (Tuesday noon operation. Took Wednesday evening the shower)).
Rehabilitation :
Is advised to stay home for a week and resume gym activity after 4 weeks.
(Personal comment : 4 hours after operation I drove 350 km to france for my work without a problem. But only do this after a good rest of course. )
Afterwards my doc told me on the phone that after one week I can start going to the gym and even do bench presses. To me 2 weeks of rest seems more sensible and I’ll start HGH after a week (for 6 months +).
19th of june (today)
1. No real pain
2. between nipple and armpit : yellow kind of bruising (feels like it as well)
3. yellow kind of bruising between left and right chest
4. Breast looks symmetrical : my left chest is now same size like right one. But the right one doesn’t seem much smaller (keeping the lypo in mind). So improved with the day after operation but not that great compared to before. But it’s probably to soon to say for sure. It’s only a week before. Probably should compare the pics to be more objectively and most importantly be more patient
5. Going to start HGH today. 2IU’s a day/ 7 days a week. + going to start a cycle pretty soon. (500mg test E/w + 600MG EG/w)
Conclusion :
A week after I feel good and can resume training very soon. Probably next week, although lightly. It wasn’t that expensive to me (but that’s personal) and since the recovery is so fast, I would really recommend it to other people. I think I’m to impatient for the result and even if the result turns out not to my satisfaction, I’d probably go for it again. But with a doc that removes the glands completely ! The fast recovery and little pain really matters people.
Anyway, I hope this helps people a bit.
