New Guy - Help with Abs

I've been reading a ton of info here and I like it. I just wanted to get on the board and give some of my back ground info.
This past summer I reached an all time high fat ass weight of 215. I'm 5'10" and 34 years old. I started training again the week of 10/15/07 after getting the worst news of my life, but I'm not gettin into that. I've been getting up at 4:30 AM to do my training due to not having the time or energy to train after work. I have 2 kids that keep me busy when I get home.
When I started doing cardio in the AM, I couldn't make 20 minutes of jogging. I had to jog / walk and sometimes hold on to the rails of the treadmill. Now I can jog for 30-40 minutes at 5-6 mph. I weighed myslef this morning and I'm now 185. The weight is comming off and I love it. My goal is to get lean. I'm trying to pack on some muscle on my delts and legs. I've never trained those muscles like I should have 10 years ago. I'd love to have a 6 pack by July for the beach too.
I've read the 5x5 program and I'm going to start that Sunday. I have my diet in better shape too. Eating clean 5-6 times a day. I know what some guys are going to say - "we need to see your diet". I have not kept track like some of the hard core guys here, but that is going to change soon. Lets just say I made a 100% change for the good in my diet. Beer is very limited. I no longer buy it for the house. Don't eat fast food or junk like I used to.

So there are my stats. Now my question is. How in the hell can I get rid of the fat around my abs? I'm looking for a good training program for them or any tips that have helped you in the past.

Thanks.

Well - Sounds like your on the right track my friend. The only way to burn the fat over your abs is have your nutrition in check and do your cardio. Remember - there's no such thing as spot fat reduction - so working your abs won't burn the fat directly over your abs..it may make your abs bigger and more visible...besides the point. Keep track of your nutrition and post it for us to give some pointers...really the only way we can help you with it.
