New to TRT. A couple questions please...

My test has been low for years. I had it tested several years ago and my primary said it was nothing to worry about even though at that time I was in the bottom 10 percentile for my age group. Over the last 6 years, I have continued to feel "older" and everything seemed to be grinding downward. At age 48, I finally decided to see a MD that specializes in TRT in our area. I had full blood work and my levels of both Free and Total were crazy low. Considerably lower than the last time I had it checked. In fact, some of the lowest (less than 1%) he said he has seen and just barely registering above the lowest starting point on either scale. As such, and at his strong recommendation, I decided to give TRT a try.

Currently my protocol is 300mg Pfizer Cypionate and a corresponding B12 shot every 12-14 days depending on my schedule for the next 3 months. At that point we will redo blood panel and see what adjustments need to be made. That being said, I have a couple questions:

1. I am overly concerned about estrogen. Obviously, the more you read, the more conflicting reports, or personal stories, both good and bad about estrogen and TRT. Should I be concerned this early into the process?

2. Would taking a supplement like DIM be recommended to try and cut off any estrogen related issues before they may show up? Or should I wait and see?

3. Are there any additional "natural" supplements that can be taken while on TRT that will help optimize the treatment? I.E. Zinc, Magnesium, good multi-vitamin, etc?

4. I am very active. I have played sports my whole life and workout daily. Anything to avoid?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome. You should be very concerned about estrogen. Your doctor has put you on a protocol that is going to wreak havoc on your hormone levels - including estrogen. You will be on a big rollercoaster ride. There is a sticky thread found at the top of this forum called Basic TRT Overview. Please give that a read and come back here with your questions. But getting that basic understanding will make it easier for us to have a conversation about TRT.

And what did your TT come in at?

You're not going to like trt at that dose spaced out that far. I could type until my fingers hurt explaining how it's bad, how your body will respond,.and how awful you'll feel about day 10-14, but mega's suggestion is the correct one. Read some stickys up top and you'll find many of those answers.

Thanks for the advice. I read your thread and appreciate it. My TT was 211. I need to get a copy of my blood work from their office so I can get my estrogen numbers. I asked specifically and he said if we encounter any problems we'll address it. Perhaps my range is fine at the moment. I am newbie enough I didn't think to ask him more specifics. Otherwise I hope he would have brought it up and said something if it was out of whack. A couple things to note so far which seem counter from your experience based on the thread.

1. I have no sexual disfunction. In fact, if anything, my sex drive is the one thing that has remained constant before starting TRT. I'm always in the mood, always want to do it. Same as when I was younger. I didn't approach this due to a lack of desire, low sex drive, or any ED issues.

2. I'm 3 weeks into treatment. 2 sub-q shots so far in upper buttock / lower back region.

3. What I've found is actually the reverse of what was written. The first few days after the injection my energy wanes. I find myself yawning a lot. However, about 4 days in it subsides and my energy actually goes up? Is that normal?

I can definitely feel a difference in my workouts already vs. my workouts prior to starting TRT.

Thanks.

First of all, I highly doubt you are injecting 300mg subq. You would have gigantic "bubbles" of oil under your skin. I am sure they are IM injections.

Three weeks in is stil very early. You really should not be feeling any effects yet from the treatment or just beginning to. What you felt previously was most likely psychosomatic or perhaps you were B12 deficient.

Lots of hypogonadal guys can still perform sexually without issues. It is often their energy levels that are effected which makes them too tired to want sex.

ur schedule is dog shit

test cyp has a half life of 5-7 days

so inject once per week, tho i think twice per week is optimal

1.) u should be on an AI for the estrogen.. talk to ur doc if u aren't... this is a major problem

3.) sure.. why not. take some d3, take a multi like gnc mens mega multi, grab some k2 if u want. HGH would be good at ur age too, but thats a seperate subject entirely.

4.) nothing i can think of to avoid, unless u have shit joints.
