New to TRT

Hey guys. I'm new to the forum. I was a member of other forums 10 or so years ago. I've been guilty of occasionally checking out different boards, but never post. Way smarter people than me on these things anyway. Here's a little background. In my late teens and very early 20's I played around with AAS. I loved TestE/EQ and TestProp/Tren. I never experimented with anything else. I also never did post cycle therapy (pct). Of course I felt like shit a few weeks later and didn't keep any of my gains. Well life got busy, had 3 kids, and quit working out. Now I'm 36yo and ready to feel better. I've become very lethargic, unmotivated, and kinda lazy at times. About 2 months ago I ran into a high school friend of mine. We've stayed in touch throughout the years. He was telling me that he was about to go to an anti-aging clinic in Florida. We live in Oklahoma in case the screen name didn't give it away. I tell him to stay in contact and let me know how it goes. I see him about a month later. He looks like a different human being. He's toned down noticeably and just seemed to feel better. He said he was diagnosed with low T, and was taking testosterone, sermorelin, anastrozole, and HCG. I kinda thought to myself this guy found a quack for a Dr. that will prescribe anything to anyone. He tells me his doses, he's only on 80mg/wk of TestE. I get on the boards and start reading. I realize he may have found some guys that know their shit. Then I ask what he paid, and believe that I can do the same thing for less $$. Basically copy his plan. So I make an order from an old source. I think I'll use HGH instead of sermorelin, and take 100mg/wk of Test instead. So on a Tuesday I take my first shot of Test at 100mg. I kinda have buyers remourse afterward. I think I should do this right and get some bloodwork. I get in 2 days later to a Dr. I'd seen in the past. He's kinda of a younger guy, I asked around and was told he did TRT. So the following Tuesday my bloodwork comes back and I meet with him. He ordered a Total Test and PSA only. The Test came back at 245ng/dl out of a 241-827 expected range. The PSA was 0.4 out of less than or = to 4.0ng/ml expected range. So he prescribes me 100mg/wk of Test. How convenient, same as what I already took. So now I'm 3 weeks into this and feel no different. I asked the PA when I should notice something? She said I should have by now. They know nothing of my self medicating the week before, so they think I'm 2 weeks into this.

I guess here are my concerns. Should I have noticed something by now? Did the injection I took 2 days before, taint my bloodwork? Do I need a more comprehensive blood test? Most on here receive much more information on theirs. I asked my Dr. about they anastrozole, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), and other stuff my friend was taking. He responded that he has never needed to prescribe anything else. He would do another blood test at 10-12 weeks. Now I'm kinda feeling like this may not be the Dr. for me. Any advice? Thanks.

If you injected 2 days before your blood was drawn I'd expect your test results to be higher than 245ng/dl. I assume that your script is for test cyp. It can take 6-7 weeks before you "feel" the test working. Scrap the other test you bought & stay on the script. You may not need an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) at low dose test, which would be ideal. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) you may want if you plan on having kids in the future. I'd recommend having a Female panel done thru PrivateMD labs. That will give you all the info you need.

You probably want a much more comprehensive blood panel as testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) will affect things like hematocrit, estradiol and cholesterol levels just to name a few. This will provide a base line reference for you as you continue on this journey. If you don't feel comfortable with the course of treatment your doc is giving you - simply get a new one. Many docs, I am sure, really understand testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) but many don't. You are the consumer - your body and money - so make sure you are getting the right treatment. Worth it to put out the effort on the front end as it is for life. Board sponsor IMT can help you out and they really know their stuff.
