Newbie Questions

About Me:

I'm 31; have been working out regularly since I was 18 or 19. I'm 5'9" and currently at 170lbs with low body fat. My end goal is 200 lbs and <= 8% bf. I've bulked up to 200+ lbs a couple of times, but ended up putting on quite a bit of fat, but can then regularly lose ~10 lbs a month if I want with proper diet and exercise.

I'm currently considering anabolic steroids in order to make better headway towards my goal. I'm not committed to using them, though, and am currently doing research (~80% of which is online) to figure out what I'd be getting myself into, and what I'd need to do if I want to do it properly

Questions:

Would anabolic steroids be appropriate for my situation?
From what I've seen so far, as long as I educate myself properly, and prepare myself properly, they don't seem out of the question

What exactly should/would I use?
I've had a friend recommend short cycles of Deca, but I think this question is already answered in one of the sticky's. Since it would be my first time, I should use test as the only steroid, along with an aromitization inhibitor to block estrogen and gonadotropin to protect my nuts. After words, do post-cycle-therapy with Clomid. Perhaps also use something to protect myself from baldness? I know my mother's father went pretty damn bald, and her brother wasn't quite so lucky either. So far, I've got a full head of hair, but I'd like to keep it that way if I can, and I've heard testosterone can accelerate male pattern hair loss

How exactly should/would I obtain it?
I think this is the trickier question for me. I see quite a few advertisements for online shopping, but if I check out the site, they kind of seem like a scam. The fact that they mostly advertise "popular" brand names at a discount and advertise that they do it without a prescription make me suspect that they are just trying to lure in newbies and that they would not actually be supplying whatever they purport to sell

Ideally, I assume, I would obtain a prescription, but I can't imagine any doctor would want to advertise that they give out easy prescriptions given the legal climate (although, I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anabolic steroids really needs to be any more taboo than a boob job if used properly). And I would imagine that without a proper indication for anabolic steroids, it is probably not in most doctors' best interests to prescribe anabolic steroids.

If it makes it easier to offer suggestions, I am an HIV+ gay male who is 100% compliant with his medication, and has an undetectable viral load. I talked to my doctor to tell him I was considering doing a cycle as an insurance policy for my body on the off chance that I develop full blown AIDS, and my body starts wasting; I'd have a lot more lean body mass to "burn" through. He informed me that the medical profession as a whole didn't really look too highly at anabolic steroids. He assured me that I have nothing to worry about, that as long as I am compliant with my meds, I will never develop full blown AIDS, that having extra body mass hasn't really been shown to help with life-expectancy anyways. He told me that he didn't really know enough about anabolic steroids to be able to safely prescribe them, and that nobody he could refer me to really did that. He also said that he had a couple of other patients that used them (who get big when they're on them and then small afterwards), and that if I did decide to start that I should come back so he could monitor my blood. And then he sent me out with a drugdex printout with all of the official indications, contraindications, dosing information, onset time, side effects, etc. for Nandrolone (I.e., Deca, the steroid my friend recommended, that I was originally looking at)

I'm not sure if it would be appropriate to "look for a second opinion"? I think it's severe unlikely at best that my situation will change enough that I won't be able to afford or obtain my HIV meds, and even if it does happen, it'd still be a long while before AIDS would set in, and doc's opinion about the life-expectancy of extra mass is probably more valid than anyone else I know's. I guess I'm more looking for cosmetic reasons than anything

If anybody has any suggestions, and would rather remain anonymous, please email at my gmail account (same account name as on here)

Edit: Just read the sticky on "Asking For A Source", and to clarify, I'm not asking for a source: I'm asking for a bit of direction on how to find my own source. I understand it could take some time to find a good source, and fortunately, I'm in no rush. Also, I created a hushmail email account for better security
