Pasta Shit Or No?

I usually eat a 1/2 box to a box of angel hair pasta a day, cause its cheap as hell. I usually eat it PWO with a shake. Is regular spagehtti/pasta shit to eat when bulking or is it ok? Not very good with the nutrition stuff.

I usually try and get 8-10 eggs, 2-4 cans of tuna, a day and would like to make the box of pasta a daily minimum as well. Trying to stock up on food thats cheap, I can buy in bulk and, can eat everyday as a minimum for calories.

It is not absolutely terrible, but it is loaded with simple carbs which convert to sugars too easily. Early in the day when you are going to burn most of it off is optimal. You are better off with higher protein foods, although they are more expensive than carb foods. I love pasta but I only eat it as a side dish, too much makes me get an insulin spike with a big let down afterward. If I eat too many carbs I feel tired.

Eating 1/2 the box for lunch and then the other 1/2 PWO would be optimal for me. Now when you say that since its a simple carb it gets converted to sugar does that mean basically fat?

What about wheat pasta, same thing? Are all the pasta's generally simple carbs or are there "good carbs" that can be eaten in bulk without worrying about excess turning to fat/waste.

Actually some pastas actually have a decent protein content. Check your labels. It is not a well rounded meal if that is all you eat is pasta. Yes it is cheap but meat and vegetables are better. Vegetables are a better source of carbs and they have lots of vitamins and fiber as well.

I eat pasta almost daily. Great stuff for a bulk, in my opinion. But then I don't gain a pound of fat every time I put a teaspoon of sugar in my coffee, so, uh, you might want to take that into account I guess. Obviously you want to take care of your protein requirements, etc etc, but you're not an idiot, so I'm sure you're already doing that.

Yea my protein is good with the amount of eggs, tuna, shakes, and other food I eat throughout the day. My carbs are kind of low from eating like that so I was hoping to make the pasta my mainstay of carbs throughout the day, I think a box is around 350carbs or so, which is what I need roughly according to my BMR to bulk.

Only loophole in my diet at the moment is meat and veggies. Veggies arent a problem since they're cheap, but the meat could be a bitch. Thinking about buying chicken in bulk, cooking it, and then keeping it in the fridge for a week. I'm gonna check on potatoes at the store tommorrow, along with the nutrition facts tommorrow and see how many I'd have to eat vs. cost to meet my intake needs.

Biggest concern of mine is the excess that I eat turning to fat. Shouldnt be a problem with cardio x2 a week and lifting x3 a week I imagine.

I try to avoid it later in the day, and when I cook it I go aldenti. It actually scores very well on some GI index lists when cooked lightly.

just cook whole wheat noodles and eat a chicken breast with it...i eat this as part of my diet...i eat it in the middle of the day and as one of my pwo meals.

whole weat pasta eaten either early in the day, or the day before an early morning workout would be useful for your needs. it won't simply turn into fat or sugar; and depending on your output at the gym, you will likely use the energy from that meal pretty efficiently.

i eat pasta every day, and i don't limit my carbs. i don't limit any food, except for fast food, sodas, chips, candy and the like. but it all depends on your genetics. are you predisposed to being fat? love handles? if so, cut the carbs in half.

I love pasta. I could eat it for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner every day. I get crazy amount of energy. Don't eat it too late in the day though.

Whole wheat pasta is good - it's low on the GI index. Throw it together with some veggies and chicken and you'll have a great mix. The veggies will help make you feel fuller so you don't eat to much of everything else. Watch the type of sauce or dressing your using though - a lot of them are loaded with sugar and that would defeat the purpose I think.
