Planning a cut with var - keto or calorie deficit better?

I'm planning to start a cut in aptil. I'm hate they way keto makes me feel. I'm planning to keep calieries just below maintnece and keep carbs low to moderate (100g a day), fat moderate (100g) and protien high (200+).

At the same time I will slowly up the cardio as well as run var for about a month.

I'm assuming any sensible diet that is a calorie deficit will result in weight loss. Any suggestions on a non keto diet for fat loss?

I'm 5 9 170lbs. 40 years old on TRT and Looking for abs to pop for summer.
 
A keto diet needs a caloric deficit to work...its not magic by itself contrary to popular broscience. For more info please read this:

Some basic steps to work out the best diet for you:

1) Calculate your TDEE and get yourself into a caloric deficit (20-30% is a good number to start with).

2) Keep protein at 1-1.25g/lb.

3) Mess around with your carb & fat ratios to find what works for YOU.
There are no set plans here but, judging by your experiences on keto, I don't recommend going too low on carbs.

My tdee is around 3000 cals. I'll start at that and then drop 150 or so cals on a weekly basis, halting at around 2400 cals and evaluate. I only track weight and mirror shots once a week. Unlike my wife who checks 3x a day ;)
