I agree that a doc who specializes in it might be helpful.
You can have ADHD and it's not always easy for a regular pdoc to diagnose it. It probbly duzzn't help if he's one of the ones who believe it doesn't exist!
Some kids who have ADHD grow out of it; some don't and have to deal with it as adults.
Most people with ADHD actually respond to stimulants in a way that's contradictory; instead of making your mind race more, it can actually calm you down and allow better focus.
I took upwards of 40 mg of amphetamine extended release and it helped me concentrate. But this is one area where the exact dose and the exact chemical can make worlds of difference.
In other words, a low dose of Wellbutrin may do zip. But a higher dose might make all the difference. Vyvanse high dose might be overwhelming, but a low dose might make you feel great. Same goes for Ritalin (methylphenidate) or Concerta or any other stimulant.
They all seem to work by increasing dopamine or norepinephrine in your brain. I gots me some low dopamine, and I can only function effectively a few hours of the day, hate that.
Best advice from a doctor I got was to be patient and try them one at a time and take notes. I check blood pressure, pulse and how I feel on a given dose.
Can you just take straight Dopamine????????? I wonder If they make it, like a peptide or somethin.
