Unless you are running a fever, or the discoloration radiates, I wouldn't worry about it. If it does not improve in a few days, or if it gets significantly worse, go see a physician. Severe insect bites are quite common this time of year.
You want to look for the site to become inflammed (increasing in redness may produce a puss; which is a sign of white blood cells trying to kill off any infection.) Look for spreading around the area; unusuall redness or tenderness. If so check your temp and if high treat with tylenol (acetaminophene) and you may want to use peroxide on the site just help your body. But if an infection is present and is serious enough you will need anti-biotics.
With all injection make sure you are prepping the area with rubbing alcohol and that you always use a clean needle; and also the correct form when administering the shot. I see so many threads here about infection and a lot of it can be prevented. If your not sure on what your doing practice on a piece of fruit and get comfortable with the equipment.
