Protein mix

I just started using protein a few days ago and I'm unfamiliar with how to take it. I was told not to mix it with milk because it would hurt the delivery of the protein. That is the only way it tastes good to me. I was wondering if this is true, if not let me know how to mix.
 
No, it is not true. Mixing it with milk is fine. It will not damage it or it's absorption in any way.
 
What kind of protein is it ? If it is straight whey, I suggest taking it with water before workouts, and with milk post-workout. If it's not whey... well, hopefully it's not Soy protein at least.
 
Trueprotein.com has a brief primer on the different types of protein but it won't give you many recommendations, you may have to do some further research and advice-seeking but it's a good place to start in that you'll be able to ask more specific questions.
