PWO insulin spike

I'm trying to figure out this whole post-workout insulin spike thing. Let me see if I have this correct.

I should have a protein drink ASAP after I finish lifting; then I should eat a meal with some carbs (starches) in it. Do these carbs need to be limited to oats, sweet potatoes, brown rice, etc. or can I eat some pasta? What size portions should I have?

Hopefully you guys can help me sort this out. I'm just wanting to try and dial everything in. Thanks.

have a shake
then have a reaonable meal...no need to over complicate things.

in all honesty you could just eat "real" food PWO

BTW
whole milk and whole eggs have been shown to be highly insulingenic (sp) due to the saturated fats in them...

yeah,first have a shake;50-60 gr whey and 80-100 grms maltodextrine&dextrose combo,add some creatine and glutamine,some ALA also.

then have a complate meal;40-60 gr protein,60-80 gr carbs from brown rice, some veggies too.

Immediately after the workout have a shake containing around 50 grams of protein and 85-100 grams of carbs. The post workout shake is the only time in which you should deliberately spike your insulin levels. Creatine and glutumane wouldnt hurt either. 2 hours later, try to have a whole food meal that is more normal.

it ceases to amaze me how many people are so hung up about PWO. Its 1 meal of the day, 4-5 meals on the week. Eat right for the other 36 or so meals outside the PWO and youve got nothing to worry about

PWO isnt the be all and end all

Why would you take it POST workout and not BEFORE? Take a carb drink before workout so you can get the insulin spike to counteract the cortisol etc increase during your workout, less breakdown of muscle, and you'll feel better afterwards too.
