Quad injection question

I just injected .5 ML with a 23 guage needle into my quad. It was the first time I did it there but I think it went well. I am just not sure.

This is only my second injection. I did the first one in the glute, and there was no pain, but some bleeding after I pulled the needle out. Afterward, there was a lump that I massaged away. I did this while on the phone with the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) clinic guy.

For my glute injection, I pushed straight down to the end of the needle, slightly outside of the center of the leg. As the needle was going in, I felt a stinging that radiated down towards my knee. When I pulled out the needle, there was no blood, and no lump. Is it possible that I hit a spot in between 2 muscles and the testosterone didn't get where is is supposed to get? Is it normal to have a stinging sensation when you shoot into your quad?

I figure that the lack of blood was from being in better control of the needle during the shot. When I did the one in the butt, it was flapping around quite a bit.

Thanks

sounds to me ya done good. you may have gotten near a nerve and that caused the sensation. move an in up or down or more to the outside next time.
from what you described, there's no problem.

You just place one hand width on the knee and one on the thigh, the space in between fair game , use the outside edge, I like 25 g one inch needles
If I touch the skin with the needle and its a sensitive spot I move a centimeter or so and tap gain, no pain I push it in, should only feel the initial skin break, have your leg well supported like on the bed so there is no tension or flexing. Once it's buried I slowly aspirated a little bit, not even a line on the syringe just enough to know if I hit blood, then slowly inject, might take 15 or 20 seconds that's fine, too fast will damage the surrounding tissue like a power washer on concrete , then let it sit a sec or two and withdraw, little rub and a band-aid you are good to go

I will do the slow injection next time. I pushed it in pretty hard both times. Will also do the aspiration check.

Thank you both for the advice.

Your injection sounds fine to me. My favorite spot to inject are delts. Over the last month, however, I've only injected quads. I too use a 23g 1inch of 23g 1.5 inch needle. Every time I pin there is a little stinging sensation as well. I really notice it when I use the 1.5 inch needle. I think it shows that you went too deep (although it is nothing to worry about). With the 1 inch needle I go all the way into the quad. With the 1.5 inch needle I try to guess how far 1 inch is and go that deep. If I go a little more than an inch I get the same sensation you are talking about.
