When I started creatine a decade ago, all you heard was 5g post-workout. Now I see lots of preworkout supp's with creatine added. Both make sense--body absorbing so well after exercise, while creatine is involved in the energy process of the workout itself. After reading conflicting accounts on both sides (both of which make some good points), I asked myself why I was tripping over it. Creatine Mono is absurdly cheap in comparison to almost any other supp. I now take 5g before and after (never heard of or experienced any ill effects from double-dosing), and its still the cheapest of all my supps.
