Started the 5 by 5 routine today!

Well today was my first day of starting the 5by5. I am 6'6" 222 and 21 years old....bf about 15% (uhhhh) After reading a couple posts on this I thought it might be worth a shot as other routines I have done in the past have not worked too well for me although diet did play a role in that. As of right now I am 100% natural other than some protein supp, multi and omega 3.

Mon-Chest
flat bench 5by5
incline dumbells 3by8-10
flys 3by 8-10
abs


Tues-back
pull ups or lat pulldowns 5by5
bent over rows 3 by 8-10
back extensions 3by8-10
****maybe one more need suggestions***
jump rope


wed- legs
squats 5by5
leg extentions3by8-10
calf raises 3by10

thurs-arms
biceps
incline dumbbell curl 5by5
reverse curl 3by8-10
isolaed dumbell 3by8-10

fri- off or cardio


sat-shoulders
milatary press 5by5
front and side raises 3by8-10 each
shrugs 5by 5
upright row 3 by 8-10
cardio depending on friday



Now obviously im not competative or an expert on putting a routine together so Id appreciate any feedback..ie...not having a arms day and maybe mixing them into the chest and back day....also should weight be increasin everyweek on the 3by8-10 sets just like the 5by5??? My goal form this is to gain 15lbs and stay as lean as possible and if possible lean up more. I am going to try and stick to a good diet this time although I find it hard to eat good and as often as I should with work and school. So I guess feel free to criticize as long as its constructive. I wanna finally make some decent gains with all the work I put in.
 
any exercise after 5x5 should be done for 2 sets of 8-10 not 3..a lot of people say they need volume but the fact is thats not true

for back do not do lat pulls for 5x5 use pull-ups/chins, deads, or BB rows
i think you should be doing deadlifts..you could do smething like this
deads 2x5
chins 3x5(add weight when necessary)
BB rows 2x8-10
Lat pulls 2x8-10

i dont see any tri's in there

no need to do shrugs 5x5
your delts will get hit hard enough from pressing as wella s military so i wold drop the front raises
 
thnks black beard...and in response I was planning to do pull ups as I always felt I got more out of them than a lat pulldown.

As for the tricep issue Thats my mistake I meant to post it along with the "arms day" so itll be worked in with that

I was wondering is 5 days too much on this routine??? I think with my spread im stilling trying to give each muscle group enough time to rest cause i know ill have some tricep stress on bench days as well as biceps on my back day....Enough time in between????
 
you can squeeze it into 4 days without a problem..

chest/tris
back/bis
off
delts
legs

as with anything if you feel it isnt working then change it

Yeah I used to do a split like that.........which way do you guys think would be better???? Once again main goal is basically 10-15lbs(I know itll be made or lost in my diet). I think I am gonna start a log on this. Ill try to do it tom
