Stress Diet and Weightloss

I'm wondering how much of an impact stress has on weightloss? My diet has been 90% perfect. Today, work related stress and now a lunch, is getting in my way. I wonder which is worse. My work related stress has more to do with a complete lack of understanding on the part of upper management than my having to then follow up problems by having lunch/dinner after solving the problem. Then I've got a wife who simply doesn't understand money management. I get calls from credit cards saying payments weren't made, so to add more stress to my day I've got to try and leave work in order to make it to the bank on time to pay stuff off. Add to thst that my wife and I have a rocky marriage (Her mother caused a huge rift while living with us. She passed in May afte almost 10 years with us). I'm also homesick, I haven't been home to Canada in almost 8 years. I haven't met my nephew and niece. I'm always looking for ways to make life a little easier but nothing except being in the gym seems to clear my mind.

With all the stress, being in a caloric deficit, in the gym 5 days a week (In the gym, I feel great. Getting there takes time. It's far enough away I have to take public transport, but closr enough I still need to walk a distance when all I want is to be in the gym.)

This came off sounding more like a rant but I am asking for advice on dealing with stress while staying on track with diet and training. And to what degree does this stress affect weightloss?

Isn't the old adage that men lose weight when stressed and women gain weight? Not scientific, but you always hear hardship and survival stories.

I wish that were true. I'm working hard with 3J and things are proving difficult. If stress led to weightloss, I might not have ever needed 3J's help...but that just isn't it. I've learned quite a bit about what works and how certain foods help drive my day with the diet 3J has set me up with. I still have a long journey ahead! Just wish it were more stress free!

Cortisol and adrenaline both have an impact on your metabolism. It's very possible that stress can certainly impact weight loss goals. Heck, stress is responsible for everything from insomnia to death; it's just a matter of learning how to cope with it.

My .02c :)

The good news is that there are steps available to aid with that. I have a very dear friend that has hashimoto disease, and has been able to beat it in order to get to the national level in competition.

I'd certainly get in touch with a QUALIFIED doctor to rule it out or make changes. Nobody should feel alone when dealing with an "invisible handicap". Man, I love this forum sometimes. :)

If anyone can figure it out, I'm sure it's you brother. :)

Is this a secret syndrome

No.. The forum automatically does that to that word.. The admins did that because people were using that word in a lab that was a security risk to the members.. So they blocked the word to make sure no one falls into the pit.. Meta is the first half the word..
