Sufficient Resttime

I started doing 5x5 one month ago and right now between sets of the core lifts that I do 5x5 on, I rest for 60 seconds between sets and the same on the supplemental lifts and when I switch Lifts I rest for 4 minutes every time I switch. Is this sufficient rest time or am I not letting my body recover?

only you can answer that question.

ya man everyone is different.... for me i give myself 30-45 seconds of rest to get a drink or to just sit there and chill for moment

depends...but mostly 2-3 mins for me...and that would count for the 3 major lifts bench deads and squat. for others, like leg press, flyes, bent rows..those would be 1 minute flat. for me at least...

the more weight you are pushing the more rest you will need, now if you are having to rest more than 5 minutes between sets then i would say drop some of the weight.

If I took say 2 minutes between sets then i could probably do 40 more punds for my 5x5 on bench but is that as good as working 40 less pounds with only 1 minute between sets. Basically what i want to know is what training method is better for putting on mass and strength or does it just vary based on the individual?

yea pulllinbig answered perfectly...go by feel everyone is different...i take FOREVER to rest and recover between sets... on my compounds like angry said rest is more important than on the isolation and bilateral movements.

yeahh as everyone else said go as u feel....sometimes u may have a short break sometimes might have a long break l jsut go by how im feeling i genrally try to pysche my self up b4 a real heavy lift and make loud screams whilst lm pushing the weight to prove how good i am and soo chicks look too lol lol

its definately a individual thing but if you are lifting HEAVY i would prefer to lift as long as needed to feel fully recovered without sitting back so long the muscles get cold .

So on core lifts its probably better to use heavier weight and rest longer, and on isolation you can take a shorter rest and use lighter weight.
