Sugar is to Stevia as Salt is to WHAT?

Alright, so in order to get a bit of sweetness out of the way, Stevia is awesome. How about with salt? I've done Mrs. Dash and other herbs but I can't seem to find the BEST alternative. Anyone know?

I'm going to look for some vinegar tomorrow, not so easy to find at the supermarkets here and add some lemons. Still looking for that salty taste though.

Can't help you with a viable substitute because I rarely crave anything salty***8230; But when I do I usually keep a bottle of mineral water on hand and drink it***8230; That usually stymies the cravings***8230; most of the disclaimers on the so-called salt substitute have use in moderation... Might try Celtic Salt RealSalt or Himalayan salt if 3j clears it***55357;***56832;. They are light years different than the table salt most of us are used to... Just my opinion brother

I would go with Mrs. Dash. The original is very good, but there are now a ton of other flavors.

Mrs. Dash Seasoning Blends, Spices and Herbs - Salt Free, Sodium Free

However, unlike stevia, Mrs. Dash actually tastes good. I cannot stomach the taste of stevia. But I am an odd one, I actually like the taste of saccharine. :)
. Tab in the can lol.

not really substitutes for salt like there are sugar. I highly recomend hand harvested celtic sea salt. its still salt but has alot more to it. I use it myself. there are acids that taste salty, some used in candy (think sour candy) but for food im not sure sure it would taste too great .

Anchovy paste does a good job. Or the tried and trued Tony's seasoning. Try making your own vinegar, depending on where you live you can do it with local fruits. raspberry's, blueberry's, pineapple to name a few. Its easy and quick and you will yield a whole lot more and be able to sweetened it up with your stevia and tweak it to just the right point.

Why not use potassium, which is pretty much any salt substitute for food. To me and my gf, it tastes very much like salt, but I guess you would have try it because each of us have different expectations for taste.

I wouldnt cut your salt intake out completely, you can lower sodium intake buy cutting out foods that are high in sodium but dont cut salt right out . Get youself some sea salt that HAS Iodine content in it. We as humans need Iodine for many different things.
