Supplements

I've been working out for a couple years now and I've hardly used supplements. The only reason why I have not used them more is because of the money. I want to gain weight, and look bigger, but at a descent price. What should I use and where should I get it?

any sups worth getting are gona be a little pricey. but a good start is protien, glutamine and creatine.

glutamine is worthless for BBing purposes.

just eat, use protein powder when needed, and creatine around workouts.

you say you want to gain weight...theres not a supplement on earth that will do that (besides protein or weight gainers...which are protein+carbs). You need calories (food) to do that.

I think your right on about the Glutamine but why do these supplement compnaies push this shit so hard. Are most people really clueless about Glutamine?

- Multivitamin - Walmart/Costco

- Fish Oil - Walmart/Costcore

- Whey Protein Powder - I use Cold Filtration Isolate from Trueprotein.com

- Creatine Ethyl Ester - Trueprotein.com

If you want to gain weight make sure you are eating enough calories

Dude I agree with these guys, I am only a beginner but eating is the key get your diet in order. The Whey I have been using is from the site sponsor supplement-ology. I have enjoyed it, fast, cheap and the chocolate is solid.

I don't know much about glutamine, but I just read a deal where poliquin is pretty high on it for post workout nutrition, especially if you are overweight.

What are your thoughts?

Hadn't read that but I think I see where he's coming from and Poliquin really knows his shit. Most of the shit I've read indicates that very little is actually digested and used to it's potential and most is simply wasted. Sound right?

I think the idea a lot of people get into their heads is that if you take supplements you dont have to eat as much throughout the day. Supplements are only there to supplement the calorie intake you need from FOOD, they do NOT work on their own

whats the misconception with glutamine, ive been taking it for a wile now. is it worthless?

do a search for glutamine on this board. I think the title of the thread is "glutamine the final verdict" or something along those lines.

the most important supplement you can get is a multi, then whey protein..these are the basic 2 you need..cheap and efficient

Thanks man. That is kind of the same responses that I have seen, so I just bought ULTIMATE NUTRITION isopreme chocolate whey from SUPPLEMENT-OLOGY it seemed like a good price. I ordered it last thursday and got it this morning, so i'm way excited because i hadn't expected it yet. So I'll let you guys know how it goes for me. I have used multi-vitamins but just generic ones that you can get at the grocery store, or costco. But do you have any suggestions on a good multi, and where do you get it?

In no way shape or form si glutamine worthless. Well regular L-glutamine maybe because of the fact that it doesn't really make it through the digestive system but glutamine peptides are awesome. Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid that comprises muscle. After carb stores are used up during training the body burns the glutamine in the muscle as fuel. This is where catabolism occurs obviously. Supplementing with glutamine before and after a workout will hopefully rpevent that from happening.
