Is there any problem having tachycardia and using steroids?

I remember my teacher talking about one of his friends developed tachycardia in result of steroid use.. i'm not sure if hes just talking out his ass lol..

Its a concern to me because I have had tachycardia episodes at around 210 bpm..

Aas can certainly affect heart rate, blood pressure and the cardiovascular system in general. If you're prone to such episodes, symptoms, and issues you'd be we'll advised to monitor your vitals frequently if you decide to go through with AAS.

tachycardia of 210bpm is most likely something called "SVT or Supraventricular Tachycardia". This just happens in certain people for unknown causes. Sometimes its from stimulant such as energy drinks, smoking, or stressful situations. Most people who get it due to stimulants have multiple episodes of it and knows what triggers it. If its only happened to you once, it may have been just a passing episode of it. That sometimes happens to people for no apparent reason. If that is you, I dont see why you would have any problem with AAS use as long as you monitor yourself. If it ever happens again, there are a couple things you can do. 1)push really hard in your stomach like youre trying to have a huge bowl movement. 2) Find your way to some REALLY cold water and get in it. 3) Carotid massage (Dont do this one unless youre at a hospital lol). If it doesnt go away within a minute go get some medical help.

Wouldn't a PDE-5 inhibitor like Cialis also help by way of vasodilation?

Cialis was actually first invented to help cardiac patients because of the vasodialation to the heart. Little did they know that it shunted blood from the heart to the dick.
(go figure that something sexual would take away from the heart to go to the junk....) anyway SVT is a conduction problem in the heart and not a constriction/dialation problem. True, there is less blood getting sent through the coranary arteries at this point, but this is not the main thing that needs to be fixed at the start of these problems. If the above mentioned things dont work the two options we use here at the ER is 1)Adenosine-Which completely stops the heart for a short period of time and resets it (looks scary as fuck on a monitor) 2) Electrocardioversion (shock the patient) to reset the heart.

and in case your cialis thing was something to make me laugh, it did haha, but im in an explaining mood tonight lol.

Nope, I'm getting an education tonight from some of 'Ology's finest lol. I thought you could "attack" SVT from another angle by dilating the vessels. I get what you're saying in that its not the most effective way to treat it and there are better options to go after the root cause but thought it might help a bit. Thanks for that explanation :)

i wouldnt go that far, haha, i only can speak on behalf of some of the medical related questions i see on here. You might not know it, but I read a lot of the posts you make, and I am almost always completely impressed by the amount of knowledge you possess. I think Halfwit has secretly taken you under his wing without allowing me in :crying:

The day I learn as much as that guy is the day I impress myself lol. He knows A LOT!!! You know more than you take credit for that's for damn sure brother, I remember before your trip you were running 'Ology's night shift hahaha. It's great having you back my man :D

Listen to the RN. Dont self medicate with i vasodilator when there is a conduction problem. You have pipes, pump, and fluid. You cant fix the pump by making the pipes larger. Monitor your vitals. Purchase an auto BP cuff from your local Walmart. Good question Dre. Stay big and stay safe.

That's exactly the reason I asked brother, I trust an RN in these matters and especially this one. Better to ask than remain silent but at least now I know for the future. Stay safe yourself brother :)

Yessss thats what it was called SVT.. It has only happened 4 times in my life.. always happens in the gym. first 2 times it happened - 4 years ago, i was doing pullups.. the third time it happened on the pulling phase of a dead lift warmup set.. and the fourth time it happened on the down phase of the squat warmup set.. most recent one was 5 months ago. Yeah i have done the pretend you are having a bowl movement thing that helps thump my heart into a normal BPM . Works very well, just get some weird looks in the gym when i do it haha
Thanks.

Yikes man, 4 times? That's actually alot. I'd be very careful in using AAS as this could definitely exacerbate the condition, since even if its exercise induced, you will definitely be pushing yourself harder in the gym. I've seen some pretty rough SVT thru my nursing career, sometimes it's so bad that we have to shock pts without sedating them first. That alone would not be worth the risk to me as they told me it hurt like a mo fo. Not to mention the chance of death....

Welll that's shitty news.. could it also be caused anxiety?? I have had problems with anxiety long as I remember to the point I was prescribed cipralex (anti depresent). I remember whenever I got anxiety heart palptaitions came along with it. I have been off my anti depresent for a good 2 months now with no palptaitions or anxiety.. which is a huge relief!
