February 2013i took spartan 45 which was great. after the first cycle, test levels crashed, doc had me on one milliliter per week of test cyp, December 2013 levels barely at 212 So doc ups
test injections to 2 ml perweek. doc said only side effect I should worry about is gain lean muscle mass. at which point do I worry about gyno, or any other negative side effects of TRt. I'm 23 years old I weigh 225 pounds intermediate weightlifter

Get blood work. Check your estradiol too.

Read the Basic TRT Overview in the TRT Stickies. That should answer a lot of your questions.

Something doesn't seem right here. 1 ml per week of test put your levels at 212? Wow, that is low. You have to worry about other things besides lean muscle mass gain. Estrogen needs to be monitored along with several other things. There is definitely more to it than just shots. Is your doctor going to prescribe you some HCG as well?? Being that you are 23, I assume you might want kids down the road?? Definitely read Megatron's thread about TRT and that will help you out.

I read lot about anti estrogen, and I've heard doctors trend to frown upon stacking the test with anything else, good thing I posted this thanks

I've only had blood work for my test levels done but I'll request the estrogen when I go back in 2 weeks, I'll check out that review also thanks

You really need more than just your Total Test and E2 checked, it is important to get all your levels checked so that your doctor can make the best decision on how to treat you, it is not ideal just to treat the symptoms without having an understanding of the cause. You might want to consider finding a different doctor, one who understand TRT and can treat you best, if you are in the states try giving IMT a call They are a forum sponsor).

Best of luck to you!

I actually considered getting a second opinion today, would I have to see a urologist or what kind of doctor specializes in TRT?

That would be an endocrinologist. Is your testosterone concentration 100mg/mL by chance? I can't see 200mg of testosterone providing such low values unless there's something seriously unique about your physiology. 400mg/wk is pretty unheard of as a prescribed dose too.

Edit: I want to reinforce how much you need to do more research as your doctor that says the only negative side effect is lean body mass gains. This could not be further from the truth as the human body undertakes many changes due to exogenous hormone use. Some examples would be:
  • Increased estradiol, which in turn causes everything from acne to water weight gain and prostate issues. It has been recently linked in fact to an increased risk of prostate cancer, that was once believed to be caused by an increase in androgens.
  • Increased platelet count and hemoglobin. These can make your blood become very thick, which puts you at risk of deep-vein thrombosis due to a polycythemia vera-like condition. You should be donating blood every 56 days NOW to prevent this.
  • DHT related issues such as male-pattern baldness being accelerated. While this is greatly determined by genetics, it is a concern for many men that like their hair. There may be safe drugs that you can take to assist with this if it becomes an issue. Hopefully your doc does his research on it more than he does with testosterone.
  • Cessation of the LH and FSH hormone signals. As these are part of the HPTA negative feedback system, they completely shut down with the use of exogenous testosterone. Your body relies on these (most notably Leutinizing Hormone) to help facilitate the production of other hormones such as DHEA and pregnenolone. Without these hormones, you may suffer from adrenal fatigue-like symptoms that can be remedied with supplementation of HCG (makes an LH-like signal) or even supplementing with the hormones themselves.
  • Effects on insulin and sensitivity to insulin. If you're a diabetic, you may find yourself hypoglycemic after being on TRT for some time. While this is good news to many (increased sensitivity), finding out the hard way is not.
  • Potential of decreased immune system function. As much as I hate bringing it up, this is a fact of TRT. While I'll take TRT over hypogonadism ANY day - you do need to be mindful of the fact that you may get sick more often, or stay sick longer. I personally only get sick about once a year, but when I do - they're doozies.
  • Risk of infection or development of scar tissue. This is a potential issue with ANY injection, but he should (if you don't know how to do this properly) at least educate you on how to do this yourself with a minimal risk to causing problems.

Anyhoo, that's long enough of an edit. Hope this helps. :)

About the decreased immune function...I got the flu this year... a couple weeks ago, and it took longer to recover, AND I got a secondary infection of Haemophilus due to having decreased immune function from the flu. However, I have had the flu several times, and recovered in less than a week generally, and I never got a secondary infection...I'm going to have to look into this.

Thanks for bringing it up!
