TRT injections

I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with low t my level was 157. I am 26 years old and have had a vasectomy, had very low energand depression. S now im on Testosterone Cypionate injections 200 mg/week. I have been on this for about a month and a half, i was wondering how long to start feeling more energy. Does the shot instanty increase your test level to say like 500 and then taper off until the next injection, or does it have to build up slowly over time? also my doc done follow up bloodwork on me, but they got the sample later in the day i got my shot that morning about 5 hrs before, will that effect the reading and make it higher than it really is. Also i aked him if i should worry about estrogen and he said that, i should not and i asked for a blood test for that, and he said no becuase if it was out of whack he would'nt prescribe anything for it anyway. So does anyone know if at this dose i should take something for my estrogen. I am still waiting on my follow up blood test to come back.

"he said no becuase if it was out of whack he would'nt prescribe anything for it anyway"

sounds like a bad case of douche baggery to me.

docs like that won't listen to reason... you might wanna find a new doc or email maximus

Not Good

yeah i thought the same thing im trying to get in to see an endocrinologist, but i have to get a referal. From my Doctor.

This depends on many factors. Testosterone is just one hormone and hormones are just one factor. I didn't really start to feel better until I got estrogen under control. I also didn't start to have more energy until I started treatment for OSA.

No, that isn't how cypionate works. There is a slight taper but the ester is used to distribute the medication somewhat evenly over time.

does it have to build up slowly over time?
It has to build and generally take 4-6 weeks

So does anyone know if at this dose i should take something for my estrogen.
Depends on your estrodial level. Some (most) people need to take an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) and others are fine without one.

Thanks

Thank you for all of the answers I forgot to mention that when I got my first shot, and on Saturday I got some energy and felt better. It only lasted until Sunday, so I dont know if estrogen took over or I it was just placebo. I would like to get estrogen under control if that's the case because I had energy for once.

Test cypionate

200 mg test cypionate, and I got the injection on tuesday. The energy picked up on Saturday could of very well been placebo I wanted It to work so bad.

it could be placebo, but, it might be taking a day for you to get the spike in E2.. Almost always people w/ high BF struggle w/ high E2. But, even skinny people sometimes need an AI.. High E2 WILL kill any benefit from testosterone injections.. Your Doctor is a real asshole.. This blows my mind!!'Even if your life sucks because your Estradiol is high, I still won't give you any meds to get it right'..WTF!!

I'm a little frustrated w/ some people on this board saying that MOST doctors are great... BULLSHIT.. MOST of them don't have a fucking clue about anything..

Ask your doc about Test propionate. Most people I have know who have gotten testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for test has been prop. It gets into your system a lot quicker than the other tests. Only the flip side you have to do it every other day. Most docs that do testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) will give you a script and you can do it at home.

lab tests

Just got my lab tests back and my total t was 1257, and my free t was 55. I still feel like shit any ideas probably estrogen right. I do have higher than average body fat. 5' 10" 237 lbs lifting but lately havent had the energy since i started i have went from 227 to 237.

Do a test for estrogen on your own, plenty of labs will do it. You don't need a Dr to order one.

This. There's a sticky here somewhere to run it through PrivateMD Labs or something. Very inexpensive and worth every penny. This is why I go through Chip. If you have insurance and they will pay for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), that's great. But this is the kind of stupid shit you have to put up with. How much time and money is wasted in repeat trips to the MD, getting a referral (or waiting for one and getting denied) and just the general pain in the ass of it all. If people would just email Chip they would see how inexpensive testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is out of pocket. I know it surprised me how affordable it was. Either way, you've gotten good advice in this thread. Please keep us updated on your progress.

The problem isn't with doctors, it is with patients. Many patients put these guys/girls up on pedestals and expect them to know everything about everything. Then, when they don't know everything under the sun, we call them "idiots" or say they "don't have a f*ing clue about anything". Most people on these forums know a LOT about male hormones and how to manipulate them. That doesn't make us geniuses. At the same time, lack of that very specific knowledge doesn't make someone else an idiot.

Just go in with realistic expectations and move on if your treatment ideas differ than the doctors' ideas. Easiest way, of course, is to just go through Maximus :)

Doctors

I just think that they shouldn't act like they know everything and not listen to any of my suggestions. He acts like I'm an idiot and won't budge on anything god forbid he has to do a little research I'm an ac tech and when I leave people expect it to be fixed. I have to know everything in my field or consult someone to fix it right, I can't just prescribe a new run cap on a unit with a bad compressor and say yeah that will fix it.

You gotta monitor estrogen. Cypionate and enanthate mostly convert to estrogen if I don't use a high Aromatase inhibitor (AI) dose. Propionate on the other hand does not for me. You also must monitor SHBG.

Agreed. :)

Too many doctors forget it's called PRACTICING medicine for a reason! Clearly they don't all suck, Chip has a good one on his staff.

That's right Tide 13.. You nailed it.. Most NOT all doctors learn what they learn in Med school, go to work and worry about their bottom line so much that they don't up date themselves on new technologies and what not.. However, that is no consolation to the patients who get sub par or detrimental care/advice from them.. I'm sure There are some good ones out there.. I just never ran into them until I got hooked up w/ Maximus and their doctors..

I know something needs adjustment in my protocol because I am letting this topic get me upset. LOL. The beautiful thing is I will call Chip and together: Me, Him, and his doctors
will fiqure it out, and i won't sit in his waiting room for 2 hrs to talk to him!

Got my referral to the endo don't know how long I have to wait for the appt. Doc said I don't think you need to up your dose I think you need to lower it. That isn't even what I'm concerned with I just want to check on the estrogen, he a ts likeim drug seekin or something if he would just do the test he needs to I wouldn't have Togo to the endo.

Jhaymes, best of luck to you w/ the endo.. I hope you get your health in order.. I apologize for getting your thread off track.. Even though me and Nordic have a different opinion of doctors, he did answer your original questions rather thoroughly.. I would also take Mlc advice to order your own blood test on line.. It's well worth the money to have an answer to your question about high e2.. IMO if it is over 30, you need to get it down.. As far as the 5 hrs between your shot and blood draw, that's not really going to throw off your results too much.. It take 24-36 hrs for test cyp to peak in your blood.. That being said, your total testosterone is in a pretty good range..
A little more info: test cyp has a half life of bout 7 days.. So 7 days after that blood draw you will be around 600 TT, 7 days more you will be around 300, 7 days more 150 etc,.
Good luck and fill out that Maximus questionnare and you will get a price list, so you will know that it's not the end of the world if this Endo jerks you around.
