Thoughts from a conversation...

Protein drinks are fine in their proper place. They should not be a staple in your daily diet.
Great after a workout because your body can absorb them much faster. I see guys saying they eat 6meals a day when 3 of those meals are protein shakes. Shakes shouldn't replace whole foods except in the occasional time crunch.

I'd say that it would depend on one's goals and their respective metabolism.

I do a couple of shakes a day every day and have done so for as long as I've been doing this...almost 27 years now.

I know from personal experience if I eat 6 whole food meals a day I'm in the bathroom 3 times more than if I have 4 whole food meals and 2 shakes. That tells me there is a lot of waste being produced as a result of 6 whole food meals.

I also know that I have a higher protein requirement than most folks. I operate best when my protein is at or very near 1.75 grams per pound of fat free mass. Therefore it takes a couple of shakes during the day for me to hit that optimal level.

Thanks for the thread Cash.. very inspirational.. I just started a reasonable diet for myself 2 weeks ago and I'm feeling a ton better..
"Nobody should have double digit BF%"! That made me laugh out loud, but in a good way.. It made me realize that I need to kick it in overdrive to truly get the most out of life..
