Is morning a better time to train than evening? or does it just depend on individual preference. It seems that by the end of the day your energy would be less.

Not at all, only u keep atlast 10 or more hours between the two. Do the cardio morning and other workout at night, it will speed up youre fat burning throughout the day.

i think ur biggest meal of the day should come after training, so for convenience sake i like to train around 3-4pm so i can come home and have dinner afterwards
In the morning you should avoid exercises that put compression on the spine (e.g. squats). The disks in your spine still contain alot of fluid and are more prone to injury.
