Tuna!

I know much of this sounds like it belongs on the Diet Forum, but I wanted to just tell ya'll about the super deal I got on Tuna yesterday; and to know if it is really a good deal.

Yesterday, I went to Food Lion (grocery store) and they had:

Chicken of the Sea: Chunk Light Tuna
6 oz. (170 g)
13g Protein per Serving
2.5 servings per can = 32.5 g Protein per can

These were selling for 2-for-$1 (50 cents each)

Is that a good price or what?

For me:

Regular Diet = Around 120 g protein / day + 2 cans of Tuna (65 g) = 185

Regular Diet + 2 Cans = 185 + 2-3 servings of Pure Whey (~ 60 g?)

= 245 g Protein / day.

This all in addition to whatever other little snacks and all I eat throughout the day.

Nutrition Questions:

1.) Is that a good price or what?

2.) Should I be able to get 120 g protein in my regular diet? I think I need to be more conservative in that number. So, I will change it to about 80.

So: 65 from Tuna / 80 from Diet / 40 from Supps = 185

Is 185 enough to make me grow a little bit?

I weigh 150

3.) With my current diet, I doubt I even take in 80 g protein, so what are some methods to increase this.

it is in the diet forum. i get my tuna for 33 cents at Aldi

there are dozens of other foods besides tuna to get protein, search it up

Yeah, don't buy that brand name tuna if you are looking for a deal. The cheapo stores have it for 33 cents each and cheaper, depending on how generic you want to go. Same nutritional profile.

Silly me! Thought I was gettin' a deal. I figured I would be getting sick of tuna anyway.

What are some other protein filled snacks that don't cost a fortune and offer diversity to my diet?

50 cents per can is not that good of a deal. I'd say it's about average. About a year ago I used to find tuna on sale all the time for 25 cents a can! Haven't seen that in forever though.

Give me chunck white tuna in water for $0.50 and I'll buy the lot.

But when eaten by itself, chunk light seems more palateable to me, anyway.

Last week Bi-Lo had Star Kist tuna 4/$1.00! Hard to believe isn't it???

You lucky bastards...here in Holland prices tend to be higher.... :)

By the way...how do you guys flavor the tuna from cans? I have been eating a can of tuna for a couple of days now and It kind of gets very bland...

-low fat ranch
-relish
-mustard

I do those when making sandwhiches when I'm on the go. But if I'm home, I make a tuna melt type thing and it's really good. I stick 2 pieces of toasted multigrain bread down, spread the tuna across them, throw on some mustard, onions and sometimes green olives and a slice of cheese across each piece and stick it under the broiler for about 5 minutes...good shit!

And it's good for 50g protein.
2 slices bread = 8g
can of tuna = 32g
2 slices cheese = 10

Let me know how you like it. I love it. Don't forget to toast the bread first, it gives it more crisp. Unless you don't like crisp.

Yeah, Something about toasted bread and tuna, goes well together! YUMMY...I know what I am having for lunch!

I think at 150 lbs 185 grams is probably enough but would up it to 200 just to be safe. As a rule even when I was much lighter I would never consume less than this. Also I do not think more than a third of your protien intake should come from shakes.

It was excellent :bigok:

I forgot to toast it...so I am going to do that next.

The olives will not be present in the second try though...I love olives but I din't really like them in this mix.
