Ok, even though the best MMA Show is gone (PRIDE) we have the opportunity to see Pride fighters whip up on UFC fighters. In the past months, they have. But, here is my problem. I am in huge minority when I say that real fights have no judges or time limits. So, without further adeiu, here is my conclusion of UFC 75.
Bisping and Hamill ended in a draw. Yup, if it hits the 15 minutes time limit (which are Pride's wimpy Bushido rules which UFC always uses which ensures draws) it's a draw. Who's to say who would win if the 16th minutes came along without a shadow of a doubt? Hamill dominated throughout against the Brit, but like boxing, it is impossible to beat a Brit on his homesoil even if you dominate every single round. Hamill got screwed in the decision, but if it were a true fight in the octagon, it would have gone about 25 minutes or so.
The main event had Rampage Jackson winning a decision, but he was winning, but Henderson was still easily in the fight. So, we got another Draw. Way to go UFC! Anything for the fans. They want action, we give them stand-ups! They want fights, we give them 5 whole fights an event. WOW. And a whopping 15 minutes also! IN the coming years, when fighters improve we will get draw after draw.
To improve this, they need to take a page out of the PRIDE notebook. Have the event on a Friday, have no time limits or standups or rounds. Then edit the fight as needed to fit it in the three hour time limit. Four fights would easily fill this without editing now with no time limits and we are getting five nowadays with 15 minute time limits. And shame on the US fans for booing when a punch isn't landed every 2 seconds! UFC could improve so much more! I just hope some purists comes along and uses the old PRIDE no time limit format. Pride used this format and still fit 12 fights in a night! The king is dead though and we are left with the UFC which gives us 1 conclusive fight each ppv. So that means by the end of a year we get 12 fights!
And I thought boxing had problems to fix.
Oh, and get rid of the three round ten point must system. If it has to do with boxing, its a joke!
