Weight loss diets can be causes for obesity?

please explain to me how eating below maintenence (the amount of calories needed to sustain your current weight) could cause you to become obese. It doesnt work that way. The fat is created from a caloric surplus. If youre in a caloric deficit, it doesnt matter what you eat (to an extent), you will not gain fat.

i couldnt find what you were talking about on the link, but the idea is the stupidest thing ive ever heard of, although im assuming they mean that once you get rid of the weight, you will go back to your old eating habits and gain the weight back...in which case...no fucking shit.

Hello

I found on the internet this subject, for ex. http://obesity.alistabout.info. Weight loss diets can be causes for obesity? What do you think? My wife is in a weight loss diet program and now I am worried about her.

Thank you

I didnt read the site, but what you have probably heard has been "puffed" or exaggerated. From some of the courses I have taken -- weight loss programs can be a problem later on. This is mainly due to those who engage in weight loss programs but do not have an exercise program. This is where the problem comes into play. When someone engages in weight loss programs...NORMALLY, they will lose the weight and later after the program is over, they will put weight back on or even more weight back on. When one loses weight they will lose some muscle mass also. So without an exercise program - most tend to...
1.) still lose weight 2.) lose muscle mass 3.) put weight back on later.

This will cause the body composition to consist of more fat and less muscle later on if weight is regained. Therefore, some will say it can be a cause for obesity since this is the common routine most go through during and after weight loss. So...make sure she exercises while losing weight, and continues to work to keep the weight off. no worries.

actually i somewhat believe what hes saying... when you dont eat anything at all your body goes into survival mode, so when you do eat its stored as fat. my mom eats one meal a day and its a sandwhich or something... and she has been the same weight for years... i designed her a diet and told her eating smaller meals throughout the day would speed up her metabolism but to no avail she didnt listen... so her one meal has gotta be less than 300 calories a day...she only drinks water and coffee yet she remains the same weight.
