There is no magic formula.
- Low rep range (4-8) is better for strength (Myofibril hypertrophy)
- Moderate rep range (10-12) is better for size (Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy)
- High rep range (20ish) is best for endurance.

When I was doing around 6 reps I had a pretty bulky look to me but since I started going my heaviest at 10 reps I've been getting really shredded so it's what your going for really. Strength or size
