Hi everyone, I'm new here, but have been doing a lot of reading here and elsewhere on the subject.
My story is, that since high school, I basically had all of the symptoms of low testosterone, but I had no idea. I just figured that was normal me. Well, long story short, I'm 28, and my life feels like crap. I'm married, and my sex life is horrible. I have no drive or desire to have sex. Its like I don't even think about it. and I have a hot wife! this is the main reason why I started looking into this low test thing. She is on the verge of leaving me, if the sex life doesn't improve. (she wasn't it all the time)
Aside from that, all of the other symptoms, irritability, cant concentrate, no morning wood, etc... i have most of them. So i go to my PCP, and i explain this to him (July) and he of course recommends a blood test, but no testosterone test, which i demanded, and he agreed. so test results come back, and he goes over everything but the testosterone (starting to frustrate me) and everything is in normal range except the testosterone. 212 ng/dl and he says yeah its a little low, and kinda brushes it off as not a big deal. he suggested losing weight will increase my output and libido, partly self confidence with lower weight. I was @ 236 5'-9". it sounded reasonable, and at this point i really didn't do any research on low testosterone, so i took his word that the low test numbers were only slightly low. He recommended a sub-lingual Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), following the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) protocol for weight loss. I did a round of that, and dropped 30 pounds. My libido spiked for about 3-4 days out of that month, and confidence was obviously high considering i was dropping weight pretty nicely. but things evened out, and i still felt like crap with no drive. well now its November, and i feel even worse. (HCG stopped) Wife talking about leaving me again, etc. really frustrating me. especially because im really attracted to her. well i pull out my copy of the blood test results and realize after a little research, that my test levels are like that of a sickly 80 year old. made another doc appointment (different doc, but same office) and this guy is straight up with me. he is an older guy, and look at the test results from July, and agrees that its significantly low. he listens to me, and sympathies with my situation, and agrees i need some testosterone in me, but is not familiar with prescribing it or anything, so he suggested i see an endocrinologist. well i make an appointment the next day (yesterday) with one. happens to be in the same office building i work in. the appointment isn't until December 10th though, which sucks.
So im curious to know from those knowledgeable in the situation, for what might happen next. I assume of course the endo will suggest another blood test, which im positive, will still show low test. now, ive read it could be a pituitary problem causing this, and probably too much estrogen. i was never tested for the estrogen, and not sure how the pituitary is tested, but if the pituitary is the problem, how is that tested, and or treated if it can be treated (guess im gonna be looking that up now) Now if the doc isnt a Douche, what might be the series of events? any help would be nice.
