Whats worse, beer or soda?

Granted, people generally don't drink as much soda as they do beer in one sitting, but what if they did?

What are the differences between how they effect the body long term?

A nutrition professor of mine once said, beer is actually healthy to drink, if you drink a bottle a day; same concept as a glass of wine, but never had I heard that soda was ever ok to drink, from a nutritional point of view.

Does this mean that overall, beer is a healthier choice than soda?

I just spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday out on four wheelers drinking about 25 beers a day and I've got to say a beer sounds much preferable today.

in the context of what?? bber's goals?? overall health??

if your gonna drink as much beef as someone who is drinking soda.. which can be up to like 6-8 cans per day for those who keep filling their cups at home from the 2 liter... i'd say 6-8 beers a day would be a bit detrimental to your health.. and yes more then soda

I'm assuming you aren't talking about diet soda...

but beer is worse either way due to the extra negative effects it has on the body (lowers test, raises estrogen, hinders recovery, etc.). Yes alcohol's damage to the body is way overrated but it's still not positive. Of course one beer won't do any of these things but binge drinking will

Cool, ever since my professor had that speech, it got me thinking about it. Thanks for clarification.

Another thing though, we all see the long term effects of alcohol being drank excessively to the point of death, but can the same thing happen if someone drank soda in the same manner? How would that person die?

I'm guessing if it were regular soda it would be from complications of obesity or diabetes. Diet soda probably not, I know someone who drinks 10 diet cokes a day minimum probably much more and he's in pretty damn good shape. Obviously genetics play a large role and you can't base it on it one person but I suspect over a large group of people, excess soda would cause a lot of health issues.

I'm just thinking about something, talking about genetics. My old neighbor used to drink close to a case of beer every day for the twenty plus years I lived next to him. He died at 91, he had a little gut but other than that he was a healthy dude
