Why Supplement Companies Frustrate Me

I picked up a couple jugs of Monster Amino really cheap from GNC. For those who don't know, it's a blend of essential Aminos and a complex carb blend (I use it post-workout for the carbs and the recovery)... This is what pissed me off about the packaging...

In big bold letters, it says "Monsterize Your Workouts" and then I subscript goes on to say that this recommended stack is for hardcore athletes who want to be monsters... Here goes:

1 1/2 hours pre-workout: Monster Milk
15 minutes pre-workout: Monster Pump
During workout: Monster Maize
Immediately post-workout: Monster Amino
30min-1 hour post-workout: Monster Milk

You only do you need to take 5 different supplements to be a Monster... Seems a little ridiculous to me.

Another bone of contention I have is this... Assuming you follow that protocol and train a 5pm; you would take a shake at 3:30pm, and your last whole food meal would probable be around 2pm. You train for a a little over an hour, which brings you to 6:15pm, and you finish your post-workout supplement routine around 7pm. Assuming you know it's important to eat after you train, you make a meal and sit down to eat it at about 7:30-8pm. If you follow what I just laid out (and what CytoSport would like you to follow) you would have gone almost 6 hours without a whole food meal.

I find this to be absolutely ludicrous.

I agree about 90% of the stuff in those stores is garbage.

funny. Its nice to see you put some thought into what you buy and put into your body. The supplement companies are hoping you just buy everything they suggest...ka ching
