Woman and Androgel

A lady friend of mine wants to use it for the increase in libido. just wanted to ask if anyone has any experience using it, what doses were used, positive/negative side effects, maximum doses reccomended for woman before exibiting male sex characteristics such as increased hair growth. In what way does it effect a womans monthly cycle. She is on no form of birth control, if this matters. any information would be very helpful and greatly appreciated. thanks.

i would think androgel [ test] wouldnt be the best choice for a ladies steroid but as a guy i will let the ladies [ supergirl] answer that one .

Has she been seen by a dr yet. Better to get testing done to see what is the cause of her lack of libido to see what the root cause is first.

NO NO NO. I highly recommend against her using this. Why does she want to use Androgel anyways?

Androgel is meant for males ......the side effects she would experience would be unpleasant and potentially harmful.

Androgel can actually cause serious fertility problems in females.

Tell her to go see a doctor about this problem......Androgel is not the way to go unless some new miraculous research has just recently come about lately.

thanks mm. I don't think she has a "problem" per say but she has always had a very low sex drive. I shall pass the doctor advice on to her. mm is there anything you can reccomend for libido?

Ways to increase libido.......

First off....is she on any type of anti-depressant? This can decrease sex drive greatly.

There is an oil called Zestra or Zetra........something like that........I believe it is still under research but she should ask her doctor about it.....it is used like Androgel but much more safe.

Exercise is always good......and I've heard yoga specifically can really help......the deep breathing and meditation increases blood flow...yada yada yada.

Good diet....a given. A Good diet benefits a person in pretty much every way!

Some good vitamins for libido.....vitamin e....helps in production of hormones. Essential fats have lots of vitamin e so tell her to get her EFA's also.
Vitamin C and B complex also!

There are alot of over the counter natural pills that supposedly increase libido. I'm not sure if they work or not.......I'm 29.....my sex drive is pretty damn good at this point in time! :)

I still think she should ask her doctor for specific medical treatments if everything else doesn't work.

One last thing.....sex shops offer lots of gizmos and gadgets that women can use to strengthen their kegal muscles......or they can do kegal exercises without the gizmos also. Benwa balls are popular. I can get horny just doing kegal exercises.....and it is more fun with the gizmos!

Let us know what happens with your friend! And encourage her to join up and ask the questions herself!

Sirxx,

Actually I find Androgel is perfect for increasing libido. :horny:

It was prescribed to me by a sexuologist - in a very small dose. I think men use 1 or 2 sachets every day. For women the starting dose is 1 sachet every 3 days (this keeps the sides to a minimum).

@ Miss Muscle: fertility can be a problem is the dose is too high. But careful supervision by a health care provider should prevent this. To make sure the testosterone levels are within bounds, blood tests are regularly taken.

Eventhough I was very pleased with the results, the Androgel also made me gain weight. Hence I quit. But I do miss the stuff!

Glad to hear the dosage is small....I still wouldn't recommend it but at least you are going about it cautiously!

To make sure the testosterone levels are within bounds, blood tests are regularly taken. Excellent advice and something that should be done if chosen to take androgel.

Nice to have a point of view from someone who has taken it! I still highly recommend against it and would only recommend it MAYBE as a last resort.....but I'm glad to hear you went about taking it so safely! And got good results! Minus the weight gain of course!

Thanks for that! It's always great to get different points of view!

This is interesting read.
http://www.sensualism.com/sex/viagra.html

Women, the maker of Viagra has found, are a lot more complicated than men. (It's great that only NOW, pfitzer researchers found that women are more complicated than Men)

After eight years of work and tests involving 3,000 women, Pfizer Inc. announced yesterday that it was abandoning its effort to prove that the impotence drug Viagra improves sexual function in women. The problem, Pfizer researchers found, is that men and women have a fundamentally different relationship between arousal and desire.

For men, arousal almost always leads to desire. So by improving a man's ability to have erections, Viagra measurably affects his sexual function. But arousal and desire are often disconnected in women, the researchers found, to their consternation.

Although Viagra can indeed create the outward signs of arousal in many women, that seems to have little effect on a woman's willingness, or desire, to have sex, the researchers said.

"There's a disconnect in many women between genital changes and mental changes," said Mitra Boolel, leader of Pfizer's sex research team. "This disconnect does not exist in men. Men consistently get erections in the presence of naked women and want to have sex. With women, things depend on a myriad of factors."..........

Just for the record....I'm not familiar with the measurement or term "sachet". At least not in this context!

That's 'cauze we're on different continents  . Here's a definition from Wikipedia:

A sachet is a small disposable bag, often used to contain single-use quantities of consumer goods, such as *edit by Miss Perfection*: 50 mg Testosterone gel! or ketchup or shampoo...
