MSN did this article on the "7 biggest muscle myths". i think some of this is BS and trick wording.

"Myth #1
Lifting incredibly slowly builds incredibly big muscles.

Lifting super slowly produces superlong workouts--and that's it. University of Alabama researchers recently studied two groups of lifters doing a 29-minute workout. One group performed exercises using a 5-second up phase and a 10-second down phase, the other a more traditional approach of 1 second up and 1 second down. The faster group burned 71 percent more calories and lifted 250 percent more weight than the superslow lifters."

who the hell takes 10 seconds on the "down phase?" nowon thinks that the slower you lift the bigger you'll get. but you cant zip through your set because then your using the velocity and neglecting the hard parts of the motion.

i think some of these are BS. you guys are the experts, what do you think?

its from Mens Health

you dont take them seriously. Ever.

There's maybe three people on the internet who still care about SuperSlow and two of them work for MH's.

personally I blame charles staley, he gets on the soapbox over superslow everytime MH lets him play with the crayons and the other staff writers basically regurgitate his drivvel.

but yes, SS is pointless unless you're a 80 year old with a hip replacement. As is blasting out reps with the typical gym dork's shitty form. Rep speed doesn't matter, being in control of the lift does.

i dont lift to burn calories. i lift to get stronger. that guy needs to be brought up on charges for lying all the time to sell mags to the people who dont wanna work/eat to grow.
