I am going to see a local anti-aging/TRT doc that is supposed to also be a thyroid guru, hopefully next week or the week after, so I have my fingers crossed. In the past though supplementing T3 did not help at all, but perhaps T4 or a combination T3/T4 might do something - I sure hope so!
Low SHBG
Mine ranges from 7 to 13, and yet I don't have the usual markers of low SHBG like diabetes or pre-diabetes. Being on TRT is better than being off, but just barely. I don't get sore after my workouts, but I still cant build any muscle, get my libido back or get any of what are...
Just speaking for myself and a couple of guys I know that are on, TRT never made us feel that great - even after spending tons of money on blood work, tweaking the protocol, etc...my libido never improved, I still cant make any progress in the gym, etc.... I have low SHBG, so I know I am SOL for...
Great Thread!
I am getting ready to go on a 9 day vacation in a month and this thread has left me feeling MUCH better. I have been on TRT for 4 years and in the past just injected a larger dose the day I left and hoped for the best - and that never worked well for me.
Your PSA is good and low, so while your DHT might be a bit higher than the reference, it may not be cause for alarm. We need a decent DHT level for libido so I will be curious to hear what your Doc says? That's my 2-cents anyway.
Low SHBG makes TRT not so great
FWIW - I have naturally low SHBG and have been on TRT for over 3 years. I have more energy than before and no more brain fog, but that's all. No better libido, no elimination of ED, its not a lot of fun overall. I have tried every protocol you can think of and...
Yes
Yes, sorry to be so late in replying. I use HCG 250 units twice a week. It has never done anything for me that I can feel. With HCG or without feels identical.
Low to no libido, ED and some brain fog. Been on HRT now for 3 years and still have low to no libido and ED, but at least I don't have brain fog and I can hit it fairly decent in the gym again. Be nice to have my old libido back, but I have tried probably every protocol out there and it doesn't...
The big negative for me is that my low (prior to getting on TRT) libido has gotten far worse, not better on TRT. My E2 if not too high or two low, I do not have elevated prolactin..what I d have is low SHBG and it sucks, as guys with low SHBG typically to not "feel" much if anything on TRT. My...
never helped my libido, either
yeah, me too and I have tried every protocol you can name over the last 3+ years. I got on TRT mainly because my libido was poor, and it not as good now as it was before. And no, I do not have elevated E2 or high prolactin.
Ask for Metformin ER
My 2 cents - I have used Metformin as I am almost pre-diabetic as well. (I guess I am pre-pre diabetic?) I find that the ER (Extended Release) works better and you do not get the gastric upset issues because it releases more slowly instead of all at once. Sure beats...
All the TRT docs and TRT clinics market it as the way to get your libido back and cure your ED (if you have that). But after being on this board for 3 years as well as several others I see a LOT of guys for which TRT does very little to nothing to help libido. I am not trying to be a downer...
I feel for you as TRT has never done a thing for my libido, either. In fact it was slightly better when I had low T. I have low SHBG though, which is a bit unusual. I hope you fair better than myself.
